In the last few days we have been bothered by numerous door to door sales men selling blinds, meat, shirts, realtor services, solar energy..you name it. mostly they come at odd hours and waste my time. When i lived in teh condo these people were out becuase we had a pass card system...now I live in a home and they shamelessly ring the bell. What can I do?

Just ignore the doorbell. Tell your friends to call before they drop by and then whoever is at the door is not important.

use a No Soliciting sign pasted to the entrance door. It works wonders.
Gora salesman will not disturb you.
If a South asian does disturb you, you have every right to complain or atleast threaten to report to police.
In my previous office, because of this sign we only have one or 2 salesman come in a year.

door to door salesman work on total commission basis and are usually new immigrants or teens.
You can at least be nice by saying 'no ty ' in person, as in N America majority of people are in sales and survive on cold calling , it just happens that the door to door sales people who are the smallest fish get a bad name.
