Same here. Used a Linksys router for last 6 years without any signal strength issues (3 level house).

I even used Linksys $ 40 router and never had signal or rebooting issues..
May be its your internet provider at fault.

Not sure how extensive your use is...Many a times I work from home and whenever I work from home, it is mostly due to continuous/long hours. and that is when you notice any distruption. As router gets older all wifi connections resets once in a while and that becomes more frequent over next few weeks. I keep 2 laptops on side by side (like James Bond or Virus of 3 idiots) and the connection on all the gadgets reset at the same time. But with new router no issues. Again as I said I currently have Trendnet 300 that was bought from costco for 30 bucks, has excellent speed anywhere in the house even my backdoor neighbour borrowed pwd couple of times. It has been over 6 months and no issues. All laptops, ipad and iphones and voip are working with no issues. (touchwood). If it would have been ISP issue, it would have had same issues with new router as well.

Makes sure u buy a router on which DD wrt firmware can be loaded.

U can search on their website http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database

DDWRT is a paid firmware (costs around 25$) but if u have Usenet access u can download it from there.

The firmware contributes a lot to the stability of the router.. I have one loaded with the DDWRT and it is rock stable for the past 2 years..

Another router i have with a non DD wrt firmware needs a reboot every week.

Plus DDWRT gives u a lot of advantages on network management in terms of accounting of traffic , firewall rules , capping speed by IP etc.

Actually factory direct has a lot of NEW Wireless N routers in 30$ range that support DDWRT.

Ditto! I have a Linksys as well (about 6-7 yrs. old) and it works great all across the house! The one thing I have done is kept the firmware up to date (you can do this through the admin panel). The firmware update is key - your router will not work well if you don't keep up.

Needs a reboot once in a while but this is hardly any trouble, I just unplug it from the back and plug it right back it. :). And a good old-fashioned reset with a pencil when I forget the admin panel password :D

Thanks for all the feedback.
However, I forgot to mention one thing: I do have a VOIP phone (Primus), so is that something that I need to factor in while deciding which router to buy?

Nope since the adapter (if there is one) will be connected thru the cable.
