1. You have to send in both your tax papers and an original letter of Employment on company letter-head from your employer stating your start date, salary, and a brief nature of your job duties. With regards to your tax, you have to mail in what is known as the option C print out of the last assessment year. This you can get mailed to you within 5-7 business days, if you call their 1800 number.

2. Yes, send everything. One of the requirements of spousal is to get the medicals done upfront and send it with the package. Also, for police clearance certificates, they expire within 6 months. However, send in with the initial submission package and then if and when Canadian Immigration requests again, send it in again.

3. About the timeline, it is over 24 months.

Hope this helps!

Not true. Unless that's a typo. My application recently got processed in 2 months (applied in feb,2004). And I've heard from about a dozen people recently whose application got processed in about 4 months.

nsk143,

Your questions make me wonder if you have even read the Sponsorship guide at all. I would suggest you read the guide completely first, will help you save a lot of time and hassle in the long run.

And as a rule of thumb, you should send all documents that would support your application. The chief reason a spousal application would be rejected is suspicion of fraud. A letter of employment reassures the officer evaluating your application to a certain degree. You should also try to include phone bills of your conversation with your spouse, maybe photos of your honeymoon or other outings etc etc. Basically anything that would assure the officer that your marriage is genuine.

Hope that helps.

the mandate of overseas posts is to complete processing sponsored spouse and children in 6-8 months, or sooner... straightforward cases that are well documented and on which there is nothing that will mkae the visa office concerned on any point will be processed very quickly as this category has the highest priority... if there are any doubts on the application and an interview is required then even that is fasttracked... in case of interview the standard is to take a decision on the file in 9-12 months... again.. these processing times are guidelines only, but they have been pretty accurate in the case of sponsored spouses...
