First of all thank you for sharing the information first hand as I guess you are the first one in CDs to get responses.

Sanchita: Although this diverts the topic but rude attitude towards aging elders making me to respond. Based on your response obviously it looks like you are not old yet but hopefully will get there before even you realize it (this is the best wish because I do not want you/anyone to die young).
I hope you understand this, most of the applicants are applying for parents immigration is not for the screwed unversal health care system. They are applying because there are very few years left in parent's life who had struggled a lot for us to have better life. Time to return favors. One can argue that go back to the country and be with them...that is not possible because we are at such a stage that we have our responsibility towards Canadian born children..
The fact of the matter that I am scared to bring them here only because of universal healthcare...to get a CT scan done, you have to wait for a year..man..the healthcare there is much better, affordable.
If you are scared about health care and burden on economy then fix the healthcare..billions of tax $$ wasted on tylenol doctors and surgeons most of the time screw things up because the better ones migrate to neighbouring countries.
I would rather pay $1000 per month on private insurance for better healthcare than wasting my money on tax for universal health that is just going down the drain.
Looks like insurance lobby forced introdcution of 10 year supervisa.

++++10000.

I was going to reply to Sanchita, but meanwhile you replied to her.

thanks a lot Bhootnath for appropriate answer to her.

For Sanchita,

You are thinking that our older parents are going to screwed up the health care system when they are here than sorry to say...

Canadian govt has lots of loop hole in policy which create a problem for everyone.

if you feel that olderly people are burden on govt than how about this all people like, refugee status, wrong showing status at census for single mother with 3 or 4 kids and enjoying all the govt benefits...atleast we both are working and we are paying taxes to govt regularely.

right now we are paying for day care for almost more than $6000/ year for our kid, why b'cos we don't have anyone at home to take care about them.

for your information, My parents came last time here on visitor visa and they liked here to stay with us. They already planned when they will be here in near future than they are going start just volunter work with community centre on free hours to keep them bisy and to help out in community.

so please do not judge that all fingures are same..... are you going to work free for community right now? and honest answer is - NO correct.......

Why only your parents, everyone loves the beauty and clean roads of Canada. That is why no matter how much desis complain you still see the long queue in front of Canadian embassy in New Delhi. Regarding daycare it is creating jobs for the locals. Please do not forget that. I know you have to pay and it is easier to bring old parents to work as nannies. In my last 10 years in Canada I have found very few old desis in community work because of the language barrier and fragile health. Just because we are paying taxes, it does'nt allow us to ask for something which is going to effect the healthcare. All governments have loopholes. Believe it or not Canadian government has a lot of social benefits compared to India. We forget that in India we also paid taxes but government never cared to give us back anything in the sense of healthcare or infrastructure. We never complained becasue we were used to that.

Ask this question to yourself..if you are first generation, to your parents if second and on...you will get the answer..Unless there were terrible past experiences...

Yes, Super visa is good for everyone but very few people want to opt for it because they have to pay for the insurance.

Nope that is not the case, you will be surprised to see the overwhelming response to supervisa. Had this facility been there before, few would have applied to PR card.. Instead they rejected visitor visa right and left. That resulted in refugee and illegal immigration.
Everytime my parents came on visitor visa I had taken insurance anyway. Fortunately did not have to use it..I am more scared of the medical treatment here. Did not even take them for regular cold/flu..doctors here would mis-diagnose it and start treatment for Asthama or something..just dont want to go there. Wish the same for all the tax payers over here in Canada.
But making insurance compulsory for one year means bonuses for insurance executives. Simply put the condition that visa sponsor will be responsible for medical expenses and everyone will take the insurance as per need..

It takes long time to get PCC in some countries...
The letter from CIC also recommanded to apply for PCC... I wonder which country has the maximum time to get PCC and how long is it ?
Because PCCs are valid only for 3 months.... so if its going to take another 2-3 years, then why would they recommand getting PCC right now ?

I have a positive feeling.

If the visa sponsor cannot pay or refuses to pay then the government do not have any option than to pay from its own pocket. Remember it is not 1 person or family, there are multiple people who will take advantage of this.

By the way Sanchita, have you got your TN visa? as per your post you are looking for TN visa for USA.... correct?

http://www.canadiandesi.com/read.php?TID=24870

good for you to move to USA and cancel Canadian Citizenship as soon as possible so atleast your tax money won't go for elderly people to health benefits.

If you are NOT planning to cancel your Canadian citizenship in future than you are also planning to screwing up health system for Canada as well.

like work in USA on Visa and once get sick or some medical emergency come to Canada and get free treatment here on health Card.....right?

Cheers.....
