I think GG has replied it somewhere. most airlines go by the dimensions. check with your carrier the dimensions of the suitcase/carton accepted.

If you are travelling into North America, afaik, all airlines permit 2 suitcases not larger than some specific dimensions that I do not remember.

we are coming by Air France
It is 32 kg per bag/carton..total 2 bags per tkt..i.e. 64 kg per tkt plus 7 kg allowed per tkt for handbags.
Total dmensions L + B + H should not exceed 62 inches.
We are carrying cartons in place of bags. They turn out to be much cheaper..anyone who makes cartons from corrugated sheets in your town can make them. Will cost Rs. 150 max per carton for export quality ( cartons lined with jute cloth )

Many airlines have recently changed the rules for baggage for travel to North America - it is much less than 32 kgs now - used to be 70 lbs in two bags of maximum dimensions, but no more.

Better check with your airlines.

But Oshoexports - this question does not quite fit in with your name. You being in the business of exports should have better contacts with forwarders and airlines and be telling other folks on CD what the rules are.
