I was caught driving 70 km on a 50 km road on Dec/22 2003.I rquested the police constable to allow me to have a look in laser gun thru which he was monitoring the speed but he did not allow. He said that since this was my first time, they will reduce it to 65km and I will be saved from 3 demerit points.I appealed against this and went to the court on 23 sep 2004.I did not take the help of any lawyer. In the court they offered me out of court settlement but I did not agree. My point was that I was not driving at 70.I should be charged for only the speed at which I was driving. The trial was held.I had nothing to prove that I was innocent. The judge believed the police constable technician when he said that his reading was correct AND THE LASER GUN PERFECT.The constable did not produce any record to show me that I was driving at 70.Finally I got convicted and paid fine and also got 3 demerit points.Today I filed an appeal AGAINST THIS JUDGEMENT.Can anyone advise whether I stand any chance or How can I go about fighting the case.I am sure I was not at 70 but I have nothing to prove that. How long these demerit points r valid and how long the conviction remains on record? Can anyone suggest the line of action I need to take.I want to fight it out.How can I prove that I was not at 70.Regards
