Let me tell a few experiences of my visit to Paris a few yearrs back. It was around 11.00 p.m. in the night and we were walking back to our hotel from the nearby metro station. Suddendly a car stops, a well dressed guy gets down ( two females are sitting in the car ). He finds a place near a building and opens his zip and pees. Paris has enough civic sense, enough public toilets. But he still finds the pavement to relieve himself. The point is such people are everywhere. So do not run from such situations. And maybe even in Toronto. So unless we do not do something to change this situation, whats the point in complaining. In Rome, you find people spitting on the streets!!! In the Pairs metro and a guy sticks to you when you put your ticket in the gate to validate and open the gate, the guys passes in with you without paying for a ticket. Do you mean Toronto is crime free, guns free, absolutely safe?? Girls move around at 2.00 a.m. in the night in Gujarat without a worry ( during navaratri ). Can you say the same about Toronto? i have not beem there, so cannnot comment. This is my personal opinion, and I have different reasons to come over there.

People move around in Toronto at 2:00AM ALL THE TIME! There is no comparison between gujarat and toronto.

I think the OP was "How much salary would it take for you to want to go back to India?".

I was a little surprised to read some of the answers where people have given reasons like filth, bad roads, pollution, excrement, power shortage, animals on streets etc. as justifications for refusing to return to India.

I suppose it was pretty clear from the OP that he was putting a hypothetical question and therefore there is no limit to the amount of money that one could ask for.

Am I to understand that those who have replied in the negative would not go to India regardless of what they were offered? Even with no limits?

Is it so difficult to understand that given the necessary amount of money, it is quite easy to live a life in India that is so far removed from the negatives mentioned as to not have any affect on ones's life at all?

Are you saying Mukesh Ambani and Anil Ambani, Azim Premji, Sunil Mittal, Shiv Nadar, Kumar Mangalam Birla etc . or even lesser than them suffer from power shortage, bad roads, excrement, pollution and filth??

Besided there are quite a few small but significant tangible and intangible pleasures that one's own country provides that can never be had in a foreign land, at least for the first generation immigrants.

And finally, no offence meant, but maybe you would also not want to live with your mother if she suffers from some ugly disease.

Dear DiogenestheCynic,
No offense. But iam sure u left India leaving ur parents or brothers or sisters or cousins behind.
So we are back to the same everyone one has own reasons to leave or to come back to INDIA...And we talk about pollution animals on roads etc that is just to give express other emotions and practical life problems involved living in India..or in Canada for that matter..e.g LONELINESS kills when u live abroad.
Now as the PS is about money only...its difficult to just conclude on the basis of money.
And about these big shots u mentioned..pls read their life stories and if u by any chance have any deep connection in political or industrial which can make u to this stage or ur grandparents have left some fortune..no offense..ok.why dont u come back yaar..iam in delhi.lets have a lunch some day at taj.my treat. but then when i come to canda..u have to treat me too.
take care..frends.god bless

Home is where you live and not where you were born. India is my country of Birth but not my Home country anymore .Canada is my "Home" country if I may correct

Sounds funny when you say that Smiley. Even after becoming a Canadian citizen, the government does not treat you to be true canadian at the time you go to get your Pension - they ask you for your landing papers which you had received in India - and consider that as the main document!

Good chandresh dear...but at least u exist MAN!!
here average 1200 people from other states vanish in delhi's crowd..and who knows they exist...you get your first Govt Identity Card when u ar able to vote. before that u exist only for ur parents frends and relatives. not for govt. u are not registered. census ke survey mein aa geye toh theek nahi to ram baroshe...wat u guus talk..it looks by lving some years in canada u have forgotten the basic problems india has..HAVE U FORGOTTEN HOW U MADE PASSPORT AND GOT PCC etc..or do i need to remind u ..come on yaar

Yes these bad habits are everywhere. but then u forgetting the ration in india its 1:100 who is sensible enuff not to do the way u mention. come to delhi i will show how cars parked in front of chicken corners..and pegs of whisky rounds inside cars between frends and then they all peeing near by yr house and on duty "mamas" right in front get pakced their chicken. not bothering. and u knw how much the fine for spiting or littering (chek spells) is RS. 50 and no awards for guessing how many must be fined till today...yaar..tell me the garbage boxes size and quantity and number of public toilets in ratio to population shows the systems concern. its our culture.remember when ..khet mein bottle leh ke bethe huye kissanno ko dekhna jab garmi ki chutti mein ghar jate the

If you really wanted o go to India you would have left by now. you would not be wasting time in this survey- varvey.

Posibly i will still see you around in Canada after you retire.

As fo me no amount of money will make me go back. I can make 2000 $ Canadian now in India but i like it here specially Rural Canada is beautiful. You live in the Lap of nature. I can see deers from my house and nice mountains and streams . It feels like Jannat. pls 24 Hour electricity and High Speed Internet.

Aur kya chahiyey.

Hi All CD's

WEll I think if i get a chance to go back I would go back if i have a decent offer to cover my expenses and lead a good life ther.
I wud say something between 70-80 K wud be fine for me.

But apart from the money I think the life is definitely better in India.

I know ppl are gonna say what bout the pollution the ppl the corruption blah blah....well i think if u have good money there then thers nothing like India..wasnt money the main reason for all of us to fly down to Canada.

This is a personnel opion tough..

Like I would more than happy to work for a big company have a nice car live in a good area like an NRI colony in Gurgaon...Keep servants who wud do the all the house work for me..no snow ploughing...

I think India is becoming one of the biggest market in IT..I'm an IT guy...

Apart from all the money stuff..i think like I'm from Delhi and that place is hapenning man...when i was there i wud party all night and still not worry that i need to go to work in the morning....

Here in canada i have not been able to get that kind of atmoshpere..i know donwtown is live and happening but i still dont the same feeling as back home...

Well i think the best solution for me wud be to get my citizenship...and then go baack home and start a business..coz i feel if i try to get a job in India today...chances are very less as there are a lot of ppl already available to work in IT in india so why wud they prefer me to someone from india.

I had applied to various companies in India recently..most of them told me that since you are in canada we wud first choose semeoen from India and if we dont get a suitable match then we may contact you..but thats never gonna happen...

WEll every country has its plus and minus points but i think iwud still prefer india if i get good money there.
