While trying to get my PCC for the visa from the Mumbai Police HQ near Crawford Mkt., the policeman on duty straightway told me to pay 3,000 INR for same day delivery, or wait for a month. I said I will wait for a month, and subsequently got the PCC's after 1 1/2 months.
Wow! I admire you.

On a superficial level, and from the IT perspective, India seems to be making rapid progress, but go down to the basics, and you will feel that our basic infrastructure is still a mess. For e.g. visit any Govt. run hospital, and you will see what I mean. Dogs, cows, and touts have a free run in these places; the lives of the common people in India have not improved much, and corruption/pollution is increasing day-by-day.
Coming back to the main question. I think I've decided on the conditions to move permanently back to India. When the income disparity between the classes have been reduced(for a cpl of generations) to the levels we see in North America. Then, I would probably move back...even if I'm making the 10-20% less, in India, than I'm making now.
In Delhi it takes just 6 hours to get PCC fr PP office. one has to deposit INR 300 and passport, nothing beyond it.
High speed internet is no more a luxury here ..
Electricity is at times scarce but at the same time snow ploughing problems r not here .

This divide will be there in any developing nation .And I think we all r part of humanity seen on a macro level .Just by switching places reality is not going to change.Whole world is considered as one place to live.
