REPLYING TO THAT 'REASONS TO MIGRATE...' GUYS I WANT TO ASK ONE THING , IF YOUR PARENTS ARE NOT ABLE TO GIVE U WHAT U DESIRED FOR, DO U GET NEW PARENTS??
WHATEVER THE COMFORT U QUOTE FOR AS A REASON TO BE OUT OF INDIA, HOME COUNTRY IS STILL HOME!!

Home is where you live and not where you were born. India is my country of Birth but not my Home country anymore .Canada is my "Home" country if I may correct

Sounds funny when you say that Smiley. Even after becoming a Canadian citizen, the government does not treat you to be true canadian at the time you go to get your Pension - they ask you for your landing papers which you had received in India - and consider that as the main document!

To echo a previous post, "Home is where the heart is". As far as I'm concerned, my heart's well and truly in Canada ;)

There is also the possibility that some(like me) are more comfortable with the insulating effects of the oceans instead of gates, walls, barbed wire and tinted glass

Couldn't agree more!

Chandresh - all that the landing document does is it establishes the date that you arrived in Canada. I can't see how asking for it implies that one is 'not a true Canadian'.

Sorry to digress more from the original topic!

I got to appreciate India more after I immigrated. Both countries have their own plus and minus points!

There was a post about decent salary in Canada on Canadiandesi and I think most people who quoted a figure were hovering around $50K/annum range. How much salary would make you return to India? Here in this thread the figure being put is around Rs 15 Lakhs/annum range by some people.

While Rs 30: 1 CAD is not the exact exchange rate but CAD 50K is roughly equal to Rs 15 Lakhs!

Give me Rs 1.25 Lac per month and I am catching the next flight outta here!!

Pleeeze...someone give me that money and you will be rid of this nuisance from Canada, and I promise I will be a good boy back home and NEVER want to come to your country again!!!

Annual salaries of 10L + are very common in India if you have a Engg. + MBA ( from a reputed institute ). I do not know much about you, but have read quite a few of your posts and find that you sure are well informed. Can you tell us something about your job profile in Canada and why you have not got an offer of 1.25 lac per month ? If my question is personal and offending you, please do not reply.:)

Why the personal attack? The man was asked to give a salary number.. if he is getting that much in canada or not .. does not matter!

Probably no amount!

Can’t stand the crowds, dodging human and animal excrement on the street, the heat and dust, the frequent power outages and knowing that my neighbor as well as the new slum two miles away pilfers electricity!

The North American work environment wins hands down too.

Yup, notwithstanding Canada’s winter, I’d rather be in TO any day………

Not sure what slums pilfering electricity has anything to do with it? I have been out of India since 1978 and returned to india in 1997 and worked for 3 years in Noida/New Delhi.. it was good. The north american environment has its challenges.. I am not sure if one is better than the other. In many ways, working of a MNC in India is much better than working in any "North American" environment.

I would love to travel too but given the measly vacation time available in NA, I find myself going back to India every year or 2 years to visit my parents. Just wondering how do folks here achieve a balance between visiting parents and fulfiling their travel dreams. Also when I get to India within 2 weeks I am tired of the dust, inadequate space to walk on the pavements because they are all dug up, the smell of urine / odour on the pavements and the honking of horns by people who have probably lost half their hearing.

I eagerly wait to get back to NA, but when I am here the anticipation of the India trip is everything. Strange !! Any similar experiences

Dont mean to hijack this thread Manasvi but I want to get an answer from people in this thread.

Sounds like New york City!
