I have recently received the papers and visa for immigrating to Canada for self , spouse and 1 baby. However, at the time of submitting the passports to the Canadian high commission for stamping i had informed them of my pregnant state and asked for advise. Now the documents are here and i cannot travel as i am at the end of the 5th month and we have an 18+ hours flight before we reach Canada. I am not sure if OHIP will be available if i take riskand land in July and the baby is due in October. Can anybody also inform me of the consequences should i choose to have my baby in country of origin. Will i be able to process aby's application as an addiotnal member to my family or will we have to reapply all over again. My visa expires feb 2006. Have not received any advice from the High Commission yet.
OHIP coverage kicks in 90 days after arrival.
If you prefer you could deliver in the country of origin, I think you should be able to get a visa for the new born without much hassle. Call them and check.
