"You might have pride in yourself and your family heritage.....but the way i see it is............they were "bhagode" Their country needed them in the struggle for freedom the most but they had to "integrate and assimilate" with different races and cultures."
Anti Desi's great grandfather came to Canada and brought his sons. Anti Desi's grandfather returned to India as a freedom fighter and stayed until after India became free! So I strongly suggest you get the facts before insulting people and calling them "bhagode"!!!

My mother-in-law suffered a serious stroke and can only move her right hand, all of her children, including my ex have abandoned to her to a seniors home where my sister in law visits her once a week for a couple of hours.
The rest of the time she sits, the nurses dress her in canadian clothes, and make her watch english tv. She doesn't speak a word of English.

Do you have a life of your own or is there just the Ex to talk about. Move on with your life........you are tryin to portray him like a devil or some although I have no problems with either or.
. That dividing line must be pretty thin in your case.-----------------------------------------------------------------

Azazf, I'm neither a liar, nor am I trying to make my ex look like a devil.
However, it doesn't surprise me that you think that way.
I'm quite sure that in your mind, any woman who would divorce must be evil incarnate and therefore also a liar.
This is the twisted thinking that we are objecting to!
I can respect Indian tradition while living according to Canadian TRADITION (according to your own definition the term applies).
The tradition of dating has existed for a long time in Canada, the rules used to be tighter and are now looser, but there are rules, and people, generally speaking follow them.
Instead of making assumptions and attacking the process, why don't you ask and find out what it's all about.
The fact that you haven't indicates a truly narrow minded bigotry!

So what then is your attitude to what is going on with the relationships listed below? And what has been your experience?

Now you are just being stupid and stereotyping me.......Let me tell you a story
My best friend got married to a non indian (south african)
got disowned by her parents
mother dies of cancer during this course without actually getting to see the daughter and her two grand kids,
She gets divorced and is on welfare now trying to move on with her life and trying to raise her kids. There is no father figure in the kids life so I fill in at times and my fiancee fills in for the aunt part.I have witnessed this myself and so this issue we are talking about is very much at home for me coz I stood by her all along and believe me it is quite painful. So now you would know what I might be thinking about you.
To add to the list my uncle got married to a white girl....this was before some of you were even born, two of my cousins are married to non indians....so this is more close to me than a lot of others so dont go calling me a bigot and if you do i simply dont care.
