Ok folks, I'll leave it like this. Quite simply, bigotry, ethnic bias, and yes, that includes bias re: interracial friendships or relationships is un-Canadian. That is not what this country stands for - and it is not tolerated on a mainstream level. You all know as well as I do that it runs rampant in South Asian communities. Now, by allowing it to continue - you risk opening the door to reverse discrimination directed back towards you by other communities in the rest of the country. Continue with some of these ignorant attitudes and you'll find yourself at the brunt of vicious racism redirected in our direction. As an indo-Canadian, I have a right to an opinion - mainly because I, like many others - will also have to deal with the ramifications of this. Ignorance divides us as a country. Many of us don't refer to India as home - Canada is home, it has been for generations - and we are the ones with the most at stake. I can't just pick up and return to India - I am North American. I think I've made myself clear.

LMAO! That's your response to an intelligent well stated post? Your rebuttal made next to no sense given the context of the post you were responding to. I think you told me to "decide what I want confused desi"? I was abundantly clear in the above post.

In any case, let me try this in language you might better comprehend.

Dont jew tell me vut d'o do jew ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP! I Bant jew t-do pattle jour vay back to da India if jew no like to libe wit da "white debille" in Can-aida or UM-rika..

There, I figure English comprehension is a stretch for you, "ashish" - so I hope that helps you to better understand what my stance is..
The way I look at it - If you dislike North American culture and society - yet still choose to live here without mixing, integrating or thinking outside the box - as far as the objective observer can see - the only "American/Canadian Confused Desi" here is YOU..LOL

It seems that beyond personal attacks and pissing contests - very few of you have anything to say about the actual topic of interracial relationships. 8 pages of posts and I can count the posts that are actually on topic and relate to this issue on one hand.

PS: "ashish" -feel free to blather out a few more off topic, incoherent responses and a few more derogatory terms like "Gora" - you've made it clear that that's about all you're good for. You're a mountain of wisdom. I think I speak for everyone when I say we're all in awe of your intellectual grace. *smirks* (That was EXTREME sarcasm in case it didn't register with everyone).. LOL

If anyone has an adverse reaction to that - they should honestly get the hell outa Canada...I've never dated someone of my "race" before. My last GF was Brunette from Vermont, before that it was an Italian-American girl from New Jersey - before that, a 3 year live in relationship with a blond haired, green-eyed bombshell from Germany - before that a girl from Colombia, before that two girls from Spain - before that, a friend of a friend from France, etc..... This is North America. If you want to stick to your own - go the hell back to where-ever it is ya come from... Just my two cents. Ethnocentricity is a form of social and cultural inferiority.

So going by this, if an Irish American guy wants to marry an Irish American girl only, would you go lecture him on how his thinking is inferior? Or if a Jewish guy wants to marry a Jewish girl, would you tell him to go wherever the hell he came from?

What about Italian Americans? If a fourth generation Italian American girl wants to marry an Italian only, would you go tell her that she's inferior and should go back to good ole' Italy?

Although I don't agree with racial bias and think its perfectly fine for someone to date someone from another race, I also respect people who don't agree with this. You can be white, brown, black, blue whatever, your relationship preferences are your own. Its ridiculous to go tell someone that they should get out of a country because they don't agree with your views. Why? Because this is North America and freedom of speech is a VERY North American trait. And it applies to all regardless of whether you're a descendent of someone who came aboard the mayflower OR if you just became a Canadian a month back.
