I also differ in the statement that a person is equally adept in all the areas. The requirement which we are looking through is ridiculous.
You should have 5 yrs experience in CRM, 5yrs in database 5 yrs in OO technology, 5 years in Unix all at the same time. The recruiters probably do not understand the requirements. In the CRM field itself you could expose yourself to just a few areas in 5-6 yrs time leave aside all other languages.
Also, Manasvi I think people in India are more skilled technically in India but in USA u learn a lot of business knowledge along with dealing with clients and some other soft skills.

All in all the market in canada is not that lucrative for IT aspirants, unless you happen to be lucky to get a break.
I know it is probably foolish to compare between USA and Canada but just to give you an Idea My husband has posted resume in Canada and in USA, where as the Canada calls are rather cold, we get atleast 15-20 calls everyday in USA for some job opportunity. Things may sound unrealistic, but sometimes the phone just dont stop ringing for 4-5 hrs straight.

Music in the house !!
:p

Nice 2 catch u back Ritu , Howz ur C# going on ?

I might b speaking off my hat now but please bear .

I was disturbed (nervous somewhat) upon following up monster.ca and finding multitasking requirements leaving me wonder whether there was any scope for specialised people .

My limited knowlege tells me that the majority of IT jobs r shifting 2 India and that 2 with good bucks ....... and those guys wudnt wish 2 migrate . Even if they wish 2 go temporarily they wud visit US ........ Now what happens to Canada 's IT market and requirement ?? Where does it get filled from ......... obviously local supply......... which predicts a relative stable situation for IT folks in Canada ..................... I really dont know how much is this hypothesis of mine right..

I checked up with seek.au for Oracle jobs in AUS and that revealed at least 4 times the no. of relevant jobs notwithstanding that many jobs posted may be 'dummies' ..............

Is there very less demand for IT pros in Canada ??

Manasvi.

Manasvi,
We just had a new addition to our family....hence the prolonged silence.
Well as far as we have done our research it seems that most of the jobs are never published and are filled thru internal postings and referrals. Also canada being the neighbour of USA is a big disadvantage...Big brother controls everything here in North America.

That being said, australia definitely has its advantage as its dependence on USA is far too less..It is more of an Independent economy if you will.

Our stands are very clear..
1) We will try our very best to get job in our field in canada..If we get it we will make a move
2) Worst case we may stay in canada and look for jobs for a max of 6 months (15K is the budget we have allocated for six months) if we get good break its cool else we are out of there
3)We are not so desparate to immigrate that we want to do some jobs which we dont feel like doing it (Very subjective but this is our personal opinion) just to stay in canada
4)With so much happening in India , We wont regret going back .
5) After spending some 4+ yrs in USA we have some contacts who will sponser us back to USA after we stay out for 1 year from USA.

your take please..

Congrats on the blessing !!

Yes ur stance is clear & meaningful . And u r in a prioritised spot due to ur US residency .

Right now lots of things r happening in the Indian IT market and I have a feeling they r here 2 stay . Personally , I wudnt wish 2 trade my career for Immigration either . I m also planning to try out for 1 year post which its either back 2 ME or India .

Will post in further later.

Manasvi.

I can give an Idea for us in usa, Kansas City( B class city), House rent $850

eat out $150
Miscellaneous Shopping $ 200
Medical Expense $150
Cable $50
Internet and Phone $60
Heating and Gas $70
Cell Phone $60
General Grocery etc $700
Phone card $ 70
Miscellaneous $300(Movies/Picnic/Donations/Gifts etc)

Hi!
As a couple with a new born baby general expenses of us are as follows :
(please note : we live a slightly above the average life style in Toronto)
House rent $800(basement) $900-$1000 (2 bedroom)
Car (Gas+Insurance) $450 (220 insurance)
eat out $100
Miscellaneous Shopping $ 200 (dresses etc..)
Medical Expense $25 (for child - till now)
Cable $55
Internet and Phone $40 to $65 (depending on provider + service)
Heating and Gas $70
Cell Phone $12 to $50 (depending on the plan)
General Grocery etc $150-$200 (mainly chinese store shopping)
Phone card $ 0- $150 (depends)
Miscellaneous $100(Movies/Picnic/Donations/Gifts etc)
Baby - $100-$250 (depending on formula, quality of diaper , food etc..)
Mainly, i donot know how groceries could come to $700 in USA. i think there is a mistake. I get the best fruits, veggies, meat, chicken and fish in the chinese shop and my bill is not more than $40 a week. Avoid indian stores. Indian stores are only for rice and spices.
just as an example :
fisk mackrel : $2.59 to $2.99 a pound
chicken |: $ 0.89 a pound
tomato : 0.88 a pound
Cauliflower : 1.29 / piece
Onions : $1.99 for 10 lb. bag
Potato : $1.99 per 10 lb bag.
Mutton pieces : $2.49 a lb
Rice : $12 per 10 lb bag

Hope it helps
TK
