Neerajj,
Are you in canada right now.Because if you are then..we are hearing some great news directly from horses mouth!!. Please post your views on other areas like Java/J2ee, .net ,SAP,Siebel etc
Sorry I did not naswer the question of manasvi, hence writing another post back to back.
SAP - Functional are doing better regards to billing but Technical positions are also in demand. Oracle Apps - I am not sure of at this time. If I get to hear anything I will post it
Mansavi: Voluntary jobs are all BS...One more way of taking a person for ride for few months. That way you will get canadian experience that most of employers look for. choice is yours but i am totally against the idea of doing voluntary jobs.
Also Top 3 cities: Toronto ON, Montreal, QC and then Vancouver BC
Ritujoshi: I am not in canada but i know the situation up there as i am canadian citizen and slogged in canada for jobs in the past before moving south of the border.
Neerajj,
I understand that Voluntary jobs are BS, but then it is a catch 22 situation..no canadian experience..no job...No Canadian Job no Canadian Experience. Could you suggest any other way to market ourselves in canada
Ritu ,
I feel that Canadian exp thing is just an eyewash and an excuse for the Employers not to consider Employees. There have been quoted instances on CD where fresh IT guys have landed in contracts either from the US / India .
If the Company needs u they should pay u ......... Or else they are simply taking undue advantage .
Manasvi.
Which experience is better? Canadian experience or American. even if you have american experience, Still you may be asked for canadian experience. I do not understand what really the big deal about canadian experience is. No one In US asks for American experience. No one in Kuwait asks for kuwaiti experience. No one in Ireland asks for Irish experience. Canada is different. Canadian employers have been given too much access to qualified manpower, that is why they all show their attitude.
But i am strong opponent of voluntary jobs, never done it myself and never i will.
Well it all boils down to demand and supply. My husband was in canada in 2001 for some project work (before 9/11) when market was good and believe me the employers there did not ever asked for any reference or any so called canadian experience. Now it looks like there are more IT people around than canada wants so it is another way of saying \"No Thanks\" politely.
