Thanks LD ,
Very prgmatically put - esp point 2 - I have wondered why a person wishes to evaluate an option not knowing whether its better or worse.
Manasvi.
To answer rahul singh's question.
YES for money.. and more opportunities in most cases.
Things cost more in Canada.. period.. the cost of living is certainly higher..
but that is not to say that you cannot make good money and have a good lifestyle in Canada.. but then again for a lot of people money is not the only concern.. but for a lot of people it is.
rahul singh: FYI, US is anyday better than Canada in terms of economy, jobs, money, education, career. As an IT professional with european, middle-eastern experience, i was not able to find decent job as long as i lived in Canada. Since i could not find decent job, i could not afford decent living for myself and my family and then i started looking for job across the border, Not only i get triple the money i made in Canada, i am respected as well, as it is hard for American employers to find experienced professionals. Therefore, i can afford decent living here and enjoy the quality of life and fun what these 2 countries have to offer. If someone gives me same money in Canadian dollars in Canada, i will definitely move back but pay is too low in Canada coz of excess labor in Canadian job market. This is my opinion, i could be wrong too.
Well said Neeraji - Life is definitely better in the good old USA. Specially in Socal for weather, money, quality of life etc.

Though I find you've written it more jovially, I feel it is the reality.
I've been living in US for more than 7 years with No Green Card now I pretty much want to tatse the freedom of being a PR and have a settled mind that "This is the place where I am gonna set my home" instead of worrying "Oh, if I lose this Job, I may need to pack my Bag".
Im considering things in long term. Considering the skyrocketting cost of Medical support and slow pace of Salary hikes, I find it secured to live on Govt support of Medical aid.
Then the Social Security, the way talks are going that it might belly up, I don't hear such a thing with CP, it looks more stable.
There are few compromises one has to make:
1. Job Oppurtunity.
2. Weather.
3. Cost of living.
But on the other side, you could think of the flip things on the other side.
1. Pressured Work culture (than Canada from my exp).
2. High Crime.
3. Skyrocketting healthcare price.
4. Volatile Social Security.
5. Always on some hype, Housing, Dotcom, Mobile etc.,
6. Currrent Political staus (May change in Canda in future, never know).
7. Ah, immigration.........
If one has his/her Green card already, can continue in US and no need to think about Canada. Coz, you're going to live like any American live.
If one has an approved PR and going through the unstable Immigration system in US, Canada is better.
I still personally feel, Canada might sound a better option after one has accumulated some good experience in US, Stashed a decent saving 100k+ and developed interest to live in less populated areas, then Canada sounds better. I feel Canada may not be a very good option if some one need to start with. Oh, Yeah, you can get your Social Secuirty transferred to Canada CPPP though you haven't completed 10 Quarters.
Another thing in US as per my feelings, When everything is going well, you're good. If adversity strikes, its gonna cost a fortune to recover and the impact is going to last for quite sometime, Say caught up in Medical Insurance, Auto Insurance, Legal etc., ( I believe these are partially applicable to Canada also).
No place in the world is a perfect place, I heard lot of dissatisfying comments from a Person who is a citizen of Norway. They said it is sick being there. We need learn to adjust, get occupied in things what we like.
Well, I mightn't have written all my thoughts in a good sequence but packed them haphazard. There are more and more to consider and I've considered..
To me my option is the best for me, it may be the worst for other. That's life. (My best option may even be a worst option for my wife, can't complain)..
- Good luck to you all.
