Any one have surrender certificate experience ?

Today I called the CGI Toronto to enquiry about my surrender certificate. This is how it went :

Me : Hello, I wish to know if my surrender certificate has been mailed.
Operator : We are having a backlog of almost 4 weeks. Let me know your application date.
Me: Aug 6, 2010
Operator : We are currently processing certificates for applications date Aug 03, 2010 (how convienient!). You will receive your next week.
Me: Thank you.

While this afternoon I received the SC in the Xpress post envelope. The certificate is dated Aug 19th.

What a bunch of liars - customer service INDIAN STYLE.

I just checked mine on 1st page a big black stamp says
PASSPORT CANCELLED on account of holder acquiring CANADIAN CITIZENSHIP
They stamped this when I applied for OCI in 2009 January.
I think I don't have to do anything as per above post. Thank you

I went to the consulate yesterday my passport expired in 2006 they said I had to pay the penalty.

Is ur passport has cancellation stamp?

No it dosen't. Still I think the penalties are to high. We have to protest abt it.

Hiren,

I just looked at the CGI website for form for surrender certificate. According to this, this certificate is to be issued when one surrenders his passport. Did you have to give your passport?
