Hi Guys,
Why you all are making so much fuss about all this surrender certificate. I you want it quickly , go to consulate , pay them fees & you can get it then & there. There is a post office in plaza who makes Draft . They take only cash or debit for making Draft. When I was there 2 months back, i saw lot of people applying for Surrender certificate. ( Also few of them had actually travelled to India on Indian Passport after obtaing Canadian Citiozenship- which is wrong totally). These people has to pay extra penalty. I found Indian consulate very friendly & fast working. Anyways, this is my opinion

The Indian consulate no longer processes Surrender Certificates.
It has to be done through VFS only.

It is a good start in USA. Enough is enough, Indian consulates always collects higher or more than average fees why don't provide faster, acurate and reliable service. Hope they stop non-sense of surrender cert fees and penalties and stop ripping off people. What do they think, abroad people have no families, making easy money like politicians in back home by bribes and corruptions. There is a messsage relayed from USA today, now Canada should be second then other countries...Let's oppose for surrender cert fees and ask for reliable faster service. I wish USA fellow Indians GOOD LUCK and hope they get what they demand from INDIAN CONSULATE.

Now i am little bit worried after read the complete post as Today i am going for my SC from VFS office at Brampton.

I calculated and end up with $168 x 3 PP = $504 + service charges $21.95 x 3 pp = 65.85.

hope total will be around $570 for now. I don't know how far they will end up with my money.

one question.

Do i have to go with pre-posted envelope as well, b'cos on website doesn't say anything about it.

Thank you very much CGI for giving us this Christmas Gift and rob our hard earn money.......
