Hi Prem,
You raise an important issue that I had not considered regarding students with allergies.
At the cafeterias in residences at McMaster your daughter can chose her own meals. They are more like restaurants than old fashioned cafeterias where there were only one or two choices. I'm not sure if the dorm style residences have kitchens, but if they do you would obviously have to teach her to avoid food prepared by other students and use only her own ingredients. I honestly don't think most students prepare their own food first year.
I did some quick research. The Chef Manager for McMaster's cafeterias is Robert Dew. It says on the school website that he will gladly meet with students to discuss accomodations to their diet. Why not call or email him and ask if they can accomodate your daughter's allergy and how they would do so? 905-525-9140 ext. 26500 or by email dewr@mcmaster.ca
If your daughter applies to live in residence she can fill in a special form: http://housing.mcmaster.ca/Residence_Admissions/documents/special_accommodation.pdf In section 3 of this form she can check off that she requires dietary accomodation due to allergies. A doctor, or possibly someone from Student Accessibility Services, can fill in section 5 of the form. The school has dealt with students with allergies in the past and would have a better idea than I do of what they could do to help her - maybe she could share a suite with other students who have allergies.
I don't know whats best in this situation, these are just some ideas for you to consider. I think most parents struggle with letting their children leave for university, it must be extra difficult when your child has a dangerous allergy.

Hi Portia,
Thank you very much for your information it's really help full, I will be calling on Monday and find out what could be done. Every one advice me to keep her in campus for first year.
she can cook for her and every weekend I don't mine driving and provide food. my main concern is that they have to compulsory take the meal plan which is waste of money let see if they consider her request of not having meal plan.
I am ready to relocate but according to her I may not like to stay in Hamilton.
Your suggestion is highly recommended
Thank you
Prem
You sound like my dad, if I needed food he would drive it to me too, too bad he is up in Northern Ontario Your daughter is lucky to have you.
