Hi,
I have recently completed 3 1/2 yrs in Canada but my Indian passport is expired for almost 1 1/2 year. I went to Indian consulate and came to know that to renew my passport I need search letter from CIC. I already applied for search letter but I see it takes 5 months to get.
My question is
1. can I apply for Canadian citizenship with expired Indian passport?
2. If I can apply then as soon as I apply CIC will have record that I have applied for citizenship and other office who is working on issuing me search letter will report that I have applied for Canadian citizenship if I take this search letter to Indian embassy will they renew my passport knowing I have applied for Canadian citizenship
3. I had applied for Canadian citizenship in past without completing residency and I gave exam and after exam received questionnaire and then I withdrew my application. if I apply now in the citizenship form there is section in application if I applied in past. will my past withdrawal create a problem in my second citizenship application?
what are the consequences? I see dead end in front of me and back of me.. if I wait for passport renewal it will be almost 4 yrs. of residency in Canada and I will be wasting my time in not applying for Canadian citizenship on time..
Thank you I will be dependent on this forum to give me direction....
thanks
Read this link:

Read Items 1 and 5.
It asks for copies of all passports, valid and expired. As far as I could glance through, nowhere it says you must have a valid passport. But read it yourself and find out. Also, you can call CIC and confirm.

As Full House said .. you created a monster ( for known and unknown reasons)
To get a Canadian citizenship, no where it is officially mentioned that you need to have a valid passport. However, it can become an issue to tackle if that comes into limelight. Hence you can go ahead with your citizenship application and handle things as they come.
Your earlier application not going to be an issue provided you have not misrepresented any thing.
