Once in Canada, at a Tim, someone ahead (in a drive through) paid $ 2. My bill was like $ 5.61 and I paid $ 3.61.
Apart from that in the 9 years that I was there, I had not experienced any thing but similar to SS, I had tried my best to do acts of kindness in Canada.
Also in India, I have not experienced any act of kindness till date but then no robbery also expect at a local driving license centre, where I was promised a license for Rs 2000 and the guy ran away with the money.
But in India, I see a good number of beggers (3 years back when I landed in India, I could not find any, but now I see a lot in my state. However in Tamil Nadu, there are significant number of beggers), I always make it a point to donate between Rs 10 to Rs 100, depending on the state of the begger.
One day, during rain, I saw a husband and wife couple begger, sheilded away from rain under a sunshade and shivering. I was driving in my car. I immediately stopped and opened my purse. It has one Rs 500 note in it. I gave it to them and without seeing their reaction entered my car.
Also the other day, at the Erode railway stn., I found a destitute woman with 2 small children, eating packed food. I gave her Rs 100 and still I was distaught. I gave another Rs 100.
In Canada, one has no option to experience the pain of seeing beggers. All you see begging are drug addicts. So many in Canada, give to World vision.
