Hello friends!
I shall be moving soon from delhi to be with you all in toronto. I have just been informed that for G licence , we require at least 2 years of prior driving experience in home country, though we may drive around with our home country driving licence for the first 3 months in canada. (is this true?)
But the problem right now with me is that my Indian D. licence doesnt show the date of issue (as people from Delhi would know) and only valid upto is shown.
In that case , how do I prove the date of issue of my D.Licence when applying for G licence?
Anybody with some advise?
Thanks in advance,
Atul_1999
Get a ministry of transport (or licencing office) letter confirming (to whom it may concern) that you hold a valid driving licence and is was issued on such and such date.

Dear Chandresh,
It is such a relief. I shall get the letter.
Thanks.

Dear Atul,
I think an International Driving Licence will let you drive for 6 months in Ontario.
Make sure that your picture in the Indian licence is clear & that the transport authorities have not pasted your latest picture (one on top of other)to update your licence !
I hv faced problems bcuz of this.
Hey! They do not even bother to look at your international driving licence. Instead they take a photostat of your smartcard licence. The International Driving Licence is valid for 3 months. So bring your Indian Driving Licence. It shall help you establish that you have been driving for more than two years. Keeping Left and Keeping Right on the road is a different ball game. You first need to get acclimitized to it - rather than posing an hazard to others because of our over-confidence.
Bhishma.
