I thought I started this topic to help people improve their expression and language.

So much for thinking for the good of general masses............:(

When is enough going to be enough?

From the beginning I knew that this post has huge potential to go offtrack and it did.. If you bring up the topic of influency of English to Desis it always digs deeper than thought..

Let the emotions flow.. its also a good exercise for lingusitic skills..

You seem to have some real angst don't you?

Still frustrated about the Wisernow, diogenes expose?

:D

::sigh:: You really are not even worthy of notice.
Ok, go bask in the glory of having been a Sherlock Holmes and being the architect of the sensational expose of Diogens/wisernow! Maybe you could take it up as a full time job and maybe be more successful becoming a James Bond for hire!! :D

No, I don't think that was really the case. I was not interested in posting anything in this thread until I read crenshaws post, first wrongly countering mercury's experience and then his brazenly ridiculing him for the type of work that he is invloved in! Before deriding him and making snide comments against mercury, he should have gone and read the earlier post that mercury was referring to, and should have known that mercury had been associated with programmers and dba's in the past and that "working in warehouse" is not all that he had been doing! This person even had the guile to mock mercury of the "back ache" that he suffered. Really, it is amazing, how pitifully low can a person stoop?
Else, IMO, everything is fine with the thread.

Is the discussion here about "context"? I don't think so! Who's talking about context? You wanted to know why I thought you had a super inflated ego. I gave you quotes from your posts. The quoted posts only exemplify my point. Out of context or in context is not the issue!

I have more than 300 posts on this board. You came up with 5 instances and say that it is indicative of an inflated ego.

I’ll explain the context to each of the posts that you quoted:

1. To mercury

Mercury suggested that English language skills were not important. He has in other posts commented about his working in a warehouse.

I told him that his assumptions about the importance of the English language and his working in a warehouse were POSSIBLY related (and I used the capitalization in the original post).

2. Incidentally Sridharm sent a PM intended for me to Mercury. Mercury copied and pasted the PM, which was on the board at the time I made my post. Mercury subsequently modified his post removing the text of the PM. A similar PM had also been sent to me the text of which has been copied and pasted on another thread. Therefore would not be accurate to consider that the post had not been addressed to me.

3. From BL to me:

BL asked me to modify the words of the particular post since they could have been misconstrued as a personal attack. I revisited my post and modified the wording!

4. Are you guys offended by the word ‘chink’? Funny, I know many chinese who are not!

5. I posted a PM that had been made to me onto the board, did I explicitly ask anyone to sneer and jeer?

You do make fun of people's shortcomings, especially their english language. You come across as an arrogant and conceited egotist. There will be several who can corroborate my view.

That’s your opinion…....

Why do you keep giving more evidence of your juvenile mind? Can't you do any better than to drag something from somewhere, regardless of whether it is relevant or not, only because you foolishly think it will help you beat someone?!? You exposed nothing! That was yet another of your failed snooty attempts at trying to show your smarty pants. And do you remember that you had been reprimanded by the mod there too?

That’s exactly what you are doing right now.

Exposed no one? You immediately initiated a ‘Wisernow RIP’ thread after the expose! Wouldn’t think that it is a’failed attempt’ we would probably have still had ‘Wisernow’ posting as well as ‘Diogenes’ posting on the website had it not been for the expose.

Reprimand from the mod?

Quote:
Orginally posted by DiogenestheCynic
Yeah, SO?! You were trying to say that it is POSSIBLY because mercury works in low paid warehouse labour type jobs, he does not know what it takes to be successful! Right? That his insights, intelligence and knowledege are inferior to yours because his work is inferior to yours. Right? And that IS a mean and contemptible thing to say to someone!

Never said anything of the sort. I said that his assumptions about the importance of English and the fact that he works in a warehouse were POSSIBLY related. You have extrapolated the rest……….

Quote:
Orginally posted by DiogenestheCynic
There you are! You just proved my point again! Now go ahead and justify this too as "putting into perspective" and bring it "in context". Go ahead and justify that it is not poking fun at me for being single and middle aged! And my dear Mr "English", do you even know what "loser" means? Maybe it is time YOU needed to brush up on your english for a change!

The single, middle aged and frustrated comments are in response to your “fart” comments on your first post on this thread….

Quote:
Orginally posted by DiogenestheCynic
No, you were not discussing that when I came in! You were on your high horse and busy in your childish mocking of someone, when I came in with my post addressed to you.

On my high horse? Busy? I had 3 posts on the subject all of which were made on November 6. You made your post on November 8……..the thread had started to go cold as far as I was concerned, before you made your comments.

Quote:
Orginally posted by DiogenestheCynic
Please don't try to twist what you said. Mercury mentioned that he knew many chinese people who were doing quite well even though their english was terrible. To that you responded ridiculing his opinion being what it was because he worked menial jobs. In fact it was mercury who was trying to say that requirement of fluency in english is not mandatory for everybody. On that you jumped on him and ridiculed him. And now you say that you post was meant only for a specific set of people!?!? Either you agree with what mercury said or you don't.

You got your facts wrong……..I made my comments about Mercury’s assumptions about English POSSIBLY being related to the fact that he works at a warehouse BEFORE his comments about the Chinese.

Try getting your facts right for a change.

Quote:
Orginally posted by DiogenestheCynic
I have already said that it is certainly a good-to-have! My contention is only on your disagreement with mercury when he mentioned that people have managed to be successful without being fluent in english, and you then ridiculing him for not knowing the real scene and attributing it to his employment in warehouse type jobs!
Get off your horse, grow up and get a friggin life!

If your only contention was the diagreement, your posts have not contributed anything to this thread. You're the person with the childish behaviour if you got onto the thread with nothing to contribute....

Unfortunately, I can’t tell you to grow up……..your closer to your second childhood now.

I imagine you can’t get a friggin life either, you’re just a frustrated old fart!

I have better things to do then sift thro your posts and come up with cites to prove my point to you. As a sample, 5 are enough!

I’ll explain the context to each of the posts that you quoted:
1. To mercury
Mercury suggested that English language skills were not important.

That is incorrect.
This was his first post on the thread:
Quote:
Orginally posted by mercury
This is not needed. Nobody is required to be perfect in a foreign language.
He has in other posts commented about his working in a warehouse.

As can be seen he only said that "Nobody is required to be perfect in a foreign language." He did not say:
Quote:
Orginally posted by crenshaw
"English language skills were not important."

Mercury's 3rd post in the thread was:
Quote:
Orginally posted by crenshaw
I dont understand your second sentence?????

If you have scrutinized my other posts so minutely you also must have read my experience with chinese folks, a lot of whon really are terrible at English.
Yet successful. I am speaking (as always) from personal experience.

As is evident he is only defending his position that one does not have to be perfect in the english language and gives examples to justify his view. Instead of going and searching for those posts where he has written more about his "experience" you ridicule him and attribute his lack of knowledge of the real scene to the fact that it is "possibly" because he works in warehouses. How much more louder and clearer does it have to be for someone to realize that it was a mean and contemptible thing to do??

2. Incidentally Sridharm sent a PM intended for me to Mercury.

And you alsojeered at him for that like thus:
Quote:
Orginally posted by crenshaw
For all your talent and intelligence, you go around sending PM's to the wrong people and haven't figured out how to use the 'quote' feature as yet.

Quote:

3. From BL to me:
BL asked me to modify the words of the particular post since they could have been misconstrued as a personal attack. I revisited my post and modified the wording!

The above example was only to show that your posts have been found offensive by the mod too and that you were asked to rephrase it. Somehow you do seem to have a tendency to phrase your posts in such a manner that always get "misconstrued". Seems to speak volumes about your communication skills, eh?
Quote:

4. Are you guys offended by the word ‘chink’? Funny, I know many chinese who are not!

WTF are you talking about? Where did I mention anything about "chinks"?
Quote:

5. I posted a PM that had been made to me onto the board, did I explicitly ask anyone to sneer and jeer?

Why else would you someone's personal mail to you! If you want to reply, you send a PM back. If you want to discuss, you do it on PM and if you want to bring the discussion into the forum, I think it is only courteous to do it with the consent of the other person, and if not interested in anything just tell the other person to FO! Why post someone's PM on the board?

Pity your memory! Do you recall that thread and was discussed? Do you remember BL agreeing that he was aware of my two IDs? Does that jog your memory any? Or are you still amnesic? Something that is already known to the mod is not an expose anymore!! Get it knucklehead?
Quote:

Reprimand from the mod?

Here are two posts by BL from that thread:
Quote:
1. Crenshaw

I think we should move on now from this, I don't believe there's any resolution here.

2.Fellas, enuff said on this matter, let's put a stop to this. I will now start enforcing this.
Let Wisernow RIP.

If you have been on regulated message boards and are familiar with the way they work, that is not short of a reprimand. Do you need to be physically bawled at before you consider it a reprimand?

I have extrapolated nothing! You are only trying to wiggle out from the situation to save your sorry ass. But that's alright. It takes a lot more maturity to accept that it was wrong and say "sorry"!
Quote:

The single, middle aged and frustrated comments are in response to your “fart” comments on your first post on this thread….

Precisely my point. You have no qualms making personal attacks on people and trying to take jibes on their personal status, be it weak english, age or being single! You really are pathetic!
Quote:
Orginally posted by crenshaw
You got your facts wrong……..I made my comments about Mercury’s assumptions about English POSSIBLY being related to the fact that he works at a warehouse BEFORE his comments about the Chinese.

You do need to work a little more to cover your ass better before you start shooting off your mouth. Ok here we go...you sure make me work a lot and I have to do it because it pains me to see smarty pants get off with lies and deceit.
Here is the sequence again:
1. First - mercury's post:
Quote:
Orginally posted by mercury
This is not needed. Nobody is required to be perfect in a foreign language. We are not even perfect in our own language, why worry about other languages?

2. Next - your post
Quote:
Orginally posted by crenshaw
Most certainly is needed! While one does not have to be perfect its important ...yappity...yappity...yap..

3. Next - mercury's post:
Quote:
Orginally posted by mercury
Thats your opinion.
You can choose to not understand the obvious....what were you thinking about the "make love between you and God" sentence....lets hear it

4. Next - your post:
Quote:
Orginally posted by crenshaw
Well, goes for you too, you can choose not to understand the obvious.....

I mean you think English language skills are not important and you work in a warehouse, based on what you've posted on other threads.......

5. Next - mercury's post: (Please note that this is the one with the mention of the "chinese"...ok? Don't forget now...ok?
Quote:
Orginally posted by mercury
I dont understand your second sentence?????
If you have scrutinized my other posts so minutely you also must have read my experience with chinese folks, a lot of whon really are terrible at English.
Yet successful. I am speaking (as always) from personal experience.

6. And finally - your post( And I am quite sure I see your "POSSIBLY" wala statement here. Don't you?)
Quote:
Orginally posted by crenshaw
Well, I haven't 'scrutinized your other posts minutely'. You've bitched for quite sometime about how you work in a warehouse, lifting boxes, which was scr**wing up your back.
I made an observation that you consider English to be a foreign language, you don't consider that it is necessary to be fluent and you work in a warehouse. POSSIBLY, the fact that you work in a warehouse is related to your assumptions about English........yappity..yappity...yap

So, you see I have my facts straight and right!
Quote:

Maybe...but you sure are not out of your first yet!:(
