Interesting article. Hope this thread does not end up into another senseless bickering among CD members.

Having said that (you knew trouble was around the corner, didn't you, he he ), I am not sure how many are familiar with the TV evangelist, Pat Robertson. Anyway, there was once when he portrayed the Hindu dieties as "evil" and "demons" and such. This is the same guy who recently said, that the US Govt ought to assassinate Hugo Chavez and that Ariel Sharon's illness was due to his attempt to separate God's land in Jerusalem, and such.

I guess every religion has fanatics who demonize other religions and people. It is upto every individual to push these comments off as silly stuff and move on to better things in life.

It was interesting to read someone's personal experiences. It is scary that hate and intolerance is considered strength and peace is a weakness.

Yes...interesting read.

She has a thought provoking point on why it appears as though Muslim view the west (ie Christian world) as inherently evil.

Yes, however the majority of westerners ridicule the likes of Pat Robertson and his intolerant rants.

BTW: There have been displays like the 'Piss Christ' and 'Dung Mary' exhibited in the west. There have also been a lot of plays/movies/sattire about Christs life that have generated controversy e.g: The Life of Brian, Last temptation fo Christ etc. I personally think that its a good thing to keep questioning dogmas...but thats me.

Yes people have felt offended (unlike me) and there have even been protests. Thats all cool and democratic. Even economic boycotts I understand (though it still does not make sense to punish a govt for the actions of free press).

Its the call to kill and behead people that I dont really understand. Why the call to mayhem? Ultimately its all the American/Christian/Jews fault?

Maybe its the media that promotes the sensationalism by focusing only on those aspects of the protests. Yesterday there was a peaceful protest in Montreal. Thats fine by me.

For her sake...I hope the writer of the piece in the op has 24 hr armed protection
