Can a Permanent Resident of Canada work legally in US?

I have completed 1 year 6 months in Canada and have a Permanent Resident status. Can anyone suggest if i can legally work in US and how will it impact my residence status here??

As long as you have valid US Work Visa you can work there. Yes you are absent during that period of time. If you work on the border cities and commute back to Canada, than you are physically in Canada for all the times. We have discussed this many times, so please browse this site carefully.
