This question is for Bombay walas. How much does a Udipi Thali cost in Bombay nowadays ? I am asking about the medium quality joint not the five star wala nor the tin shed sasta wala.

Average clean Udipi restaurant. This is just for my knowledge to judge what is the average cost of living in Bombay nowadays compared to when i used to have a Rupees 7 thali in college.

In early 2007 when I was in Mumbai Udipi thali was anywhere from Rs.40 - 80 depending on non ac, ac, location. I found the food very expensive. A dinner for four in a slightly good place (Restaurant with Punjabi type food with typical udipi flavour) was about Rs.2500.

80 Ruppes that is 2 $ . It is not bad to have a full meal for this amount. Cannot get a fullmeal in North America for 2 $.

Loser Babu,

If you compare Indian prices with the power of the CAD everything will look cheap. Compare it with what it was a couple of years back and the affordability of the same by a common man who earns not even "$2" per day.

Now where did this shining thing come from? Are you just one of those India bashers? And is this shining phenomenon all about just affording a thali. Can you afford to eat at the Fairmont Royal York for a casual lunch? How come?
