Solution needed :
Does any one know what is the cheapest long distance available (That I can use through Bell Landline? We discontinued using phone cards since either the phone card was not good or we misplaced them and could not find it.

Any pointers appricated.

Hey Tamilkuravan,

G3 Telecom introduced early in 2008 (around Feb or March, i think) their direct dial long distance that lets you call North America (Canada, US and more) for as little as 1¢ per minute. See which other countries are included in that bundle at g3telecom.com.

I use 1010alo myself but I don't think I call long distance as much as you do. So maybe that direct dial plan might work for you. Cheers.

For your information i have collected a few toll free numbers that are provided by the reps of GLOBE TEL under different names of the company.

if you call 1-888-461-4114 they would welcome you as GLOBE TEL
if you call 1-888-584-5559 they would welcome you as GO GO TEL
if you call 1-888-926-9993 they would welcome you as TELECOM International
if you call 1-888-984-7729 they would welcome you as G-TEL

By the way...the reps who answer the call are the same set of 6 -8 reps....IF you think i am lying,,you may call them as see for yourself...

They would tell you that they dont have a website but they are soon going to launch ttheir website in about 2 -3 weeks at the same time they will claim that they have been a successful long distance service providing company since almost 6 - 8months....

Once Again, this is my personal experience and i thought i should make others aware of this happening.

Yup, you coulnd't have said it better. GeoTel is just a big bunch of scammers. Even their poorly-contructed website screams of scamming. If a company won't provide a physical office address, then don't ever give them any of your personal info. This so-called company only has a P.O. box listed as an address. Geez. Scaaaaary Mary.

I'm using one service rightnow.. which i can't give any gurantee but i thought to give it try
http://www.onlinetel.com/en/callzone/
it is 42 dollars for one year, unlimited Canada( not all cities)
so me and my friend brought it together..
for 2 months..its running well. I almost covered my money...if you want check it out.

Hi 7Wonders,

We use this service from online tel for the last 3 years. I think, It used to be $15 plus tax earlier and now it is $37.50 plus tax. However, You get only 200 calls per month and maximum duration for any call is 30 minutes. You can use this service for most of Ontario and some other places. You can see the call remaining on the website immediately and can register up to 3 numbers for this service.

However, for calling India I am now using the service referred by you. I told them that you referred me to them and they promised to credit your bill with the 5% of my monthly spending. Please confirm if you are getting this credit on your bill or not. If not, then I can take up the matter with them.

So far, I am satisfied with the service, billing and ease of use. I can access my bill and call details on line (though not immediately). The rates they are giving right now are 6.9 cents to all over India including mobile numbers and 2.9 cents to any where in Canada or USA, which is good. Moreover, they automatically credit me for the calls of less then 1 minute which saves the hassle of calling them as we had to do with G3Telecom.

Thanks for refferal. Online tel says that length of the calls should be 30 min max and it will disconnect automatically. However, sometimes I used it for 2 hours ...never cuttoff or never said any warning.
I don't call that much so 200 calls is too much for me.

For NECC, I am not seeing any refferal credit may be they missed..

I am with Comwave since last 3 years.
Both for a VOIP Home Home and a Long Distance Plan for India.

VOIP Phone is pretty good and the cheapest in the market. First time
they will take a deposit from you for the VOIP Box - which is refunded when you cancel the connection. One of my friend got the refund becuase he had Bell Internet and VOIP Boxes don't work very well with Bell. To get the chepeast rate you will have to sign up for 2 Year Contract which I have completety. Now it is montly billing. If you propose the VOIP Phone to a friend and if he gets it you get a $1 Discount eachmonth, more you recomend more discount you get. I get the discount on my invoice. Also they provide a 30 Day trial period too.

Long Distance is also good - they match most of the other companies. They billing is by the minute. If someone does not pick the phone at the other end and you disconnect the call only after the rings they do not charge for it. Rogers charges 1Min for it.
For Long Distance they charge a Monthly fee of $3.50 which is fair enough.

I have tried Reliance before - there rates are higher and have not changed much since long.

Hope that helps.

I take my question back. Asking a question on Long Distance Provider kind of thing attracts advertisers.

For US& Canada I use skype- 3 dollar/month -3000 Min
and I also use Magicjack - yearly 20 dollars for ulimited calls to US and Canada and you get a US phone number. You can also give Magicjack to your parents so they can call US & Canada free if they have Internet.
