I think this is misleading calculation.
I compared Jakarta Indonesia and Mississuaga, Canada. It says if I made 100,000 in Jakarta, I need to make only 61,000 here which is a big joke. In Jakarta, with 100,000 I can live like a king with material facilities which in Canada even a person earning about 200k cannot imagine (huge houses, house servents, gardener, chauffer, personal trainer, Masseuse, nice and expensive cars, dinners and brunches in 5 star/delux hotels on weekends, overseas vacation once every two years, good healthcare (for normal and uncomplicated matters) etc. etc.
I have not compared India, since I do not know about cost of living there.

Chandresh, I'm *fairly* sure u can get all those amenities with a CAD$200k income, with some conditions.... maybe not in CAD$61k tho.
have u lived in Indonesia? how is it? i have a lot of malay and indonesia friends and would love to go there someday... i'm sure the weather is MUCH better than what it is here.
i think the cost of living comparisons given on that site are more literal forex translations than anything else. take it with a huge dose of salt.

Hi,
I hope you can guide me - as I'm seriously considering leaving my well-paid, secure but no-growth job in India to immigrate to Canada.
Apart from the general cost of living - what it the cost of health insurance? Or is it free!!!( i can't help wishing that it is).
- to the people who are relocating with their dogs - I totally empathize - I have a pet and I need to think about this too....
Bye,
Shouldn't compare apples and oranges... What Canada offers that UAE doesn't is security and belonging. (Many among you may not agree...) In exchange you agree to essentially pay an entrance fee...(cost of landing , reduced salary , high taxes , expensive house) It is a social contract that you buy into.

Hey Margo,
We are in the same boat. We live in the US and over the years have managed to accumulate two dogs and a cat I'll check around for sites that list apartments allowing pets and let you know.
Regards,
DT
