Hey group

I was just wondering if any of you is planning to put winter tires on your car this winter. I am looking at following brands and would apreciate your commets on these tires if you have come across them.

1) Bridgestone Blizzak WS60
2) Gislaved Nordfrost 5

I checked with Midas on Eglington and tomken and they quoted me abt $850 (tax included) for 4 tires, installation and balancing. Do yuu guys think this is reasonable.

Thanks in advance for any help

Thanks for the responses guys. My tire size is P215/60R16 for a 2006 Lexus es330. I am looking for only tires, installation & rebalancing. I don’t need the rims.I would appreciate if you could recommend a good place I can go to get the winter tires.

go to tirerack.com

for 4 WS-60's of your size is 750$ CAD (delivered in toronto including taxes, duties etc), 650USD add 80$ for installation and balancing so you are looking at 830$. so not a bad deal at all.

If you take delivery in Niagara falls the cost is 430USD (525 CAD + 80 install = 610$).

If you are dumping your old tires then you dont have to pay any GST PST

If you will get the tires with you then you may have to pay GST PST which approximates to 675$ add 25$ for gas you are looking at 700$ even.

I need the same tire size and was calling around for quotes. Not looking for a Winter tire though, I'm looking for a good all-season (saves me installation costs every year and I've discovered over time that if I drive easy and avoid driving in the mega-storms, this is a better alternative)

Just spoke to a guy who told me (sounded convincing) that Michelins are more hype than value and you're basically paying for the brand, not the tire.

He recommended a Sumitomo (japanese) all season instead, which is significantly cheaper (about $130 per tire installed, balanced vs. $200), but according to him, better quality and overall value.

Anybody ever used a Sumitomo? Would appreciate feedback...

An out of town friend has left four tires in my garage. He is asking me to get rid of them. If anyone is interested send me a PM.
