We have lived in US for around 7 years and moved to Canada (Toronto)on 11th November 2008.

We got posseission of apartment on 11th only (coordinated from states) and got cable, internet ,landline and Cell phone from Rogers on ver next day.

On 13th i got job offer for a full time position.
I joined the company on 24th.

Now we will apply for OHIP card, canadian driving license etc...

By God grace, till now our experience has been realy pleasent and we are enjoying over here.

Will keep you guys posted.

You did not mention what is your position, what industry you were working in, what industry you got a job, how long ago did you apply for this job, how were you interviewed.

All these details will help others to plan there move.

Would like to know why you have posted this here? If you were someone who had been contributing the forum for some time, or had been asking something about Canada/jobs/life etc. and then you now wanted to update us with your experience and status, it would have made sense. However, you just come in and put in a matter of fact without much details is hardly helpful.

As Loser has put it, unless you give us lot more details, your post is of no use to anyone. Also, this particular post does not warrant it to be under success stories.

Any specific reason why you need to post your Salary in a Public Forum.

Maybe he's proud of it, that's why.
What's wrong with it?
What's wrong in posting gross salary? It's not like he's posting his entire tax return here.
In fact, I would appreciate if he also posted his field, location and job position.
I'll appreciate even more if more people (especially long time residents) posted their field, location, position and salaries during discussions.
It will be a great help to newcomers.

Can you all just relax and let him share his "good experience" for the brief predictable bit before the levy breaks all the hate spews forth when comparisons to USA surface? :)

Kidding aside, I find nothing wrong with his post. Just goes to show if things fall in line you don't have to go through some of the horror many routinely post here. In fact there less of such good experiences on CD than bad ones...so let it be!

Guys,
It is a no brainer. 7 years in the USA and immediate job in Canada can only mean that the person is in IT.
95 K salary can only be got by a person who is in a senior role such as a Project Manager. He must have been in a very good company in USA and in a hot technology too. My guess is that he must either be a DBA, SAP, Oracle financial professional etc....
I have seen many Indians from USA (secure jobs) reject offers of 90K and thereabouts in many companies in the GTA and West of the GTA and hence this person is preparing to settle in Canada b'cos he is not secure about his immigration status in USA (H1B about to expire / No greencard etc...)
Let us wish him all the best for coming to Canada and giving his valuable tax dollars to the cdn. govt in times of recession.

Peace by TK
