Hi All,
I am looking for My Indian Passport Renewal form CGI, Toronto. As most of the consular services are outsourced to VFS but they do not process TATKAL Passport. For that, we have to go to CGI. Any experience at CGI, How much is the fees?. What is the Timeline?
All suggestion are welcome.

One can go to CGI between 9 -11.30 am when they accept applications.
Typically there is a lineup before 9am but not so long.

Someone will look at your application at the entrance before letting you in
and then there would be an officer to review everything and give you a token no.

You would then be interviewed by consular officer to determine the urgency
and should have your passport the same day or next day, provided all documents are in order

I submitted for my passport renewal on 10-May-2010 to VFS and they had an estimated time of 4 weeks to process, which was due on 12-Jun-2010. The passport status still shows in processing and VFS when called, has asked for another 48 hours just to inquire why it's not done yet.

We now have an emergency and need to travel to India. Does it help going to CGI Toronto directly to fast track this ? Anybody experienced something similar ?

Don't know why the need to take over a month for a passport renewal. In fact I am not sure what renewal means in CGI's terminology, because this was renewal to me as my initial passport of 10 years was going to expire in Sep. But VFS calls it a new passport application. Wondering when would renewal come into picture then.
