Hi Guys,

Does anyone know whether AMIE Graduate Engineer from India is recognized here in Canada for Employment as well as further education (Masters level)? What about their eligibility to P.Eng.? Do they stand the same chance as a regular Bachelor's Degree of Engineering holder? The reason why I ask is this - AMIE is the distance learning method and might not find it's place in eligibility where it is generally mentioned that a particular no. of hours course work needs to be completed.

Would really appreciate if you could also please guide me to any Govt. Agency in this regard.

Also, on a side note. Is there anything similar to AMIE exist in Canada where you could enroll and finish the Graduate Engineering Degree while you're working?

Please advise.
Thanks in advance.

I guess, Toronto University's Comparative Education Services can help. I am not sure though. I got my Equivalence done (not AMIE though) in 4 months.

Hope that helps. All the best.

I completed AMIE(India) and got OACETT membership in Ontario, which may help for job and can get benefits for auto insurance, house mortgage etc
for applying for membership, you need to work here and be refered by other engineer or collage professor may be from India, and pass exam which is three hours written test

AMIE or something else ?

Engineering is a regulated profession in Canada, and hence the title "P.Eng". Your job title can have the word "engineer" only if you are a professional engineer.

Engineering is not a regulated profession in India. You can be an AMIE member, but it does not serve any practical purpose.

I do not think there is an equivalent of AMIE in Canada.

eg, if you have done you BE or ME from India and got Registered with professional body in India..

Can you call your self Mr Chcool ( PEng-India ) like we do in Canada or you have to call urself Mr Chcool(AMIE-India) ?
:D:D

You see the difference here. Indian companies recognize Indian universities and their awards like BE, ME etc. The companies take them as trainees give them 6 months to 1 yr training, properly mould them and make them as professional engineers. They call them as trainee engineer then after successful completion of training, they will be caled as engineer.

In canada, the canadian companies do not accept canadian universities and their awards like B Eng, M Eng ( !! ) etc. and they dont call them as engineers (!! )

They look for P Eng which is not taught in universities but prepared to accept them as engineers.

In a way, canadian companies do not recognize canadian universities curriculam or thier teaching methods, examination methods or awards. They accept only professional engineers ontario as proper exam centres !!!

Any body say no?
