IMHO :
Only 5 % of successful immigrants write on CD as they are too busy to prosper and making their life better .
95 % of immigrants who could not make their way due to various factors will vent our frustrations on platforms like CD . Gradually you will see that only few are left ranting about Canada . If you wish and have time go through some post from 2005 and than read the views of the same person in 2010 .
Here is an example ( I will not reveal ID of OP )
2005 Post : Canada sucks , Canada is scam and how can I pack my bags and leave ?
2010 Post : CD's please help as I want to bring my sister ( relatives ) here ..
Hence it is very difficult to get the balanced and right opinion about Canada.

Even though I have applied, I am still in confusion if everything goes fine with my file, should I go to Canada or not? I am still not 100% convinced with a decision of going to Canada. I am doing pretty ok here in India. It is all about quality of life, health care and education system that is taking me to Canada

Thanks
You are young and with a few years of efforts( I do not put that as struggle) you can definitely succeed. The only thing you will require to succeed in Canada is perseverance. People who come here from India are generally industrious and dynamic. Although India has tremendous growth potential, however it may take a few decades before India comes close to Canada infrastructurally.
Please come and make your future here but come here well prepared because there are no escape routes once you land here.
Good luck my friend.

You know you are a desi when ........ You spew forth the virtues of India, but don't want to live there...............You've never had a tanning salon membership
Healthcare is free for everyone , rules depend on province in ontario anyone who is a resident of the province for 3 months or more is automatically covered , u need to pay for medicines, dental and vision though
Education is free until high school.
Unemployment benefits and pension are not free,
Unemployment benefits u need to have a job first for some period of time, usually 6 months and are eligible only if u lose ur job because of company letting u go without ur fault.
Pension u need to contribute for number of years before u get pension only after 65
Government takes care of kids who have no parents or whose parents are ill treating the kid , by putting them in foster care, which in my opinion is the worst thing that ur kid can go through.
The only benefit that low income to no income parents get is Child tax benifit , universal benefits all of which dont amount to more than 400$ per kid.

2) I have heard about Free Health care, free education, Unemployment benefits, pension etc. which actually made me think to move to Canada. As you all guys are already living there. Do these things actually exists there because what you hear is sometime different from what you actually experience. ( I know these are all recovered from your pay cheques via income tax).
3) I also understand I have to struggle a lot initially as one do not get such high designated jobs in Canada in the beginning which we are used to get it here in India. I am ready for initial struggle but my only worry is my 1 year old small kid. I just want to understand even if I struggle for little longer period, Is my kid is still in safe hands of Government? Is government is supporting enough for children’s. I don’t want to take any chance with my innocent baby. It is my responsibility to provide him with the best of all. Honestly, this is the only worry that I have which is creating confusion in my mind.
Please suggest.
with a small baby I would never recommend anyone to come here. my 1 year old daughter had to wait 7 hours in emergency in hospital and eventually had to walk out without seeing the doctor.free medical generally only means free consultation which would otherwise cost Rs.500 maybe less in Delhi. i dont think that even matters. I developed skin problem due to excessive work and depression and the doctor recommended me to a specailist. The specialist gave me appmt to come after 1month, then told me to take appointment again only to find out to come in September which was 3 months ;ater. No appointments. So u know the system. It becomes serious when its serious illness or babies and its wait wait wait as doctors are busy and too less.
Coming to Canada is an option, only for the brave at heart, and those who are patient, focused, positive, innovative, and not easily discouraged. It is not easy to make it here - there is no place for those who have even a slight doubt about success.
One can talk until the end of time, but this is the ultimate truth. There is no point in bashing Canada. If you are adventurous, and think it is worth the experience (whether good or bad), board the flight - otherwise stay put there - after all Bharat is \"mahaan\" in many ways, and so is Canada for some. There is no point in making comparisons.
Each person on this planet must travel his own journey of life. Whether you want to stay back or come here is something your instinct should tell you. Each person has opinions, based on his experience.......... that said, who are you going to follow?
Remember this - no matter what advice you get here, it is up to you to act or not do something, and ONLY YOU have to experience the happiness or sorrow that follows.
