Excellent threads and very nice inferences !
The Gora people immigrated and built everything for us. Good roads, good computers, good paying jobs (for IT people only), Good hospitals, schools, univ's , shopping centres etc,,
We desi's came last decade and started enjoying everything from day 1.
Now who is more qulaified to bring their parents to this great cold country . Will it be :

1. A sri lankan who pays a snakehead / cheats to come here and apply for fake refugee status? Does 2 labour jobs and earns like 80 K and sponsers his parents ? Same for Punju's

2. A IT professional earning 12-24 lakhs a year in India and coming here and earning 80K to 100 K and sponsering his parents / in laws?

3. A Engineer earning 8-20 lakhs a year in India and unable to get a job in Canada as he is not in IT but then living as securtiy guard / labour and earning $ 12 an hour and unable to sponser his parents?

Think about it. There is no clear cut answer and Desi's are so selfish.
If they do not get a good job, they will complain
If they are not able to sponser their parents, they will complain
if they are not able to get a course in the univ. of their choice, they will complain.
All complain for their own selfish needs only

L&P

Its is no secret in financial circles, that the first boomers have put little; subsequent folks may have put a bit more but compared to what they will be getting back ... its a win win win win situation for them;

Especially given that people are living LONGER AND LONGER.

Clearly its a loss of the younger generation many (or most ???) of whom are immigrants [who themselves are struggling to make ends meet]

This is a book that has been talked about a lot in the press - read it.

The Pinch: How the Baby Boomers Took Their Children's Future - And Why They Should Give it Back

http://www.amazon.com/Pinch-Boomers-Childrens-Future-Should/dp/1848872313/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt/187-1393666-2234451

Is it a wonder that all of sudden the white countries of Europe and North America are allowing legal migration (of non white folks) on such a MASSIVE scale .... if not to pay taxes (used among other things for Old Age Security), support EI and fund them health systems (for the boomers) .... clearly its in their INTEREST and so and Jason Kennedy points out they are allowing us in.

Now our parents, wow wow ... they don't need them do they ?? But their parents long long time back were allowed.

All double standards (a mini DUBIA if you ask me)

Well, you can make a difference - make sure you don't vote for Jason Kennedy, Harper and Conservatives.

Harper has been trying and trying to build his base (from the old REFORM platform). He tried with the Quebec folks but they don't want him - now they are trying the new immigrants who traditionally voted Liberals.

Send him the message. VOTE LIBERALS or NDP.

When he see's a CONSTITUENCY - he'll back track.

what these retarded idiots also don't realize is that it is the taxes paid by hard working immigrants that pays for all the pensions, OAS, etc. that the old white people are collecting today.

-- True, but these old people have also contributed to this system

the white baby boomers did not pay that much into the system as what they are collecting today.

-- Where did you find this?

the sponsor has to sign a declaration that states he/she will take care of the sponsored parents for at least 10 years.
during that 10 years, the parents do not get any benefits like OAS.
the only social benefit they get is the health system, and that too not prescription drug benefits.
the taxes that their working children pay into the system, more than pays for the health care that aged parents receive.

-- Agree.

a quick google search came with this:

Baby boomers 'must pay for their own elderly care'

The post-war baby boom generation “has done pretty well for itself” and should be prepared to use its property wealth to pay for care in old age, a government adviser has said.

Even if this has any truth in it, this link posted using a quick Google search is British and has no Canadian connection.

The connection is that the boomers everywhere have benefited well.

In Canada, the boomers are to be subsidized by the newly immigrated folks. In UK, the govt is trying to pass the buck where it needs to belong.

With the boomers.

I agree with Immigration Canada. Most desis particularly pakis file the sponsorship by marrying Canadian raised girls for the purpose of sponsorshiping the clan. Why are parents dying to come here and take shortcuts to bypass the promises of 10 yrs to rely on the gov't and become a health care burden. They are of no economic benefit. Their children can easily visit them and support them back home. Why are they trying to come to destroy the Canadian economy and become a burden on tax payers utilizing the healthcare system. Parent sponsorship should be eliminated altogether not just delayed. Jason Kenney has to look out for Canadian citizens and the economy not open doors to destroy the economy.
