Correct. They are not denying it, just "reducing" it in Canada's best interest.

Well, its a fact ... they wouldn't allow immigrants in ... if it wasn't for the taxes, EI, CPP etc that we pay.

Those health benefits going forward aren't sustainable. Today, 44% of Ontario's budget is going towards OHIP ... and dude the boomers will just start retiring in 2012.

Regarding delivering pizzas, driving cabs or working in call centers ... goes back to the point that we are making.

Many of them just can't get jobs due to the color of skin (the same barriers they have put to the family migration program).

However, if your parents/family is coming from Europe ... well that's another question.

That's the bottom line .. The unspoken truth.

The so called health benefits (for the boomers) are financed by those very immigrants  , who want to sponsor their parents.

-- This is sounding as if the health benefits would have ceased to exists without the new immigrants.

HealthCare system was well in place before the immigration system opened the doors to new immigrants. Also, the percentage of the new immigrants getting well-paying jobs (to fund the social benefits) is relative small as compared to those delivering pizzas, driving cabs or working in call centers (who actually need these benefits).

Yes, we all know that the immigration system is broken and needs to be fixed. But limiting the number of old people coming into Canada is the right thing to do, if their goal is to support the aging population that already exists in Canada.

The right step to fixing the system is supporting the needs for the people (newly immigranted folks) who will PAY (FUND) the boomers (and Canada's) needs (OHIP, CPP, OAS, GIS).

That is allowing their families to immigrate ... i.e stop the discrimination based on race.

-- The need for the newly immigrating people is to create jobs (which is good for them as well as to fund the social system). The need for new immigrants cannot be another immigration.

The reduction in parents/grandparents immigration can be racial or a discriminatory issue only if they reduce the quota for certain specific country.

They have done exactly that. They have increased the quota for Beijing and reduced the quota for New Delhi.

http://www.asianjournal.ca/feb%2011_11/main%20headline.html

IF you are from India, you will have to wait longer to get your parents and grandparents entry into Canada.
If you are from China, your wait time will be reduced.
This is because the federal government has dramatically cut the immigrant visa quota for parents and grandparents from New Delhi to 2,500 in 2011 from 4,500 last year.
On the other hand, Beijing has a remarkable increase in the 2011 target for parents and grandparents: 2,650 visas in 2011, compared to 1,000 visas in 2010.

Write to your MP about this discrimination. If your MP is conservative, tell him/her not to expect any support in the next election. If he/she is from Desi community, tell to be ready to face the boycott if no corrective measures will be taken in future.

Be ready to give a tough reply in next election.
