Don't wait till you run out of your savings. That will bring desperation (& frustration). I suggest you get into emergency measures right now. What change will happen in the next 3-4months.

Get aggressive, Its a "Either now or never situation for most people in situations like you".

Start making your attempts before time/money runs out.
Off-course you can survive on welfare/ social support, as some CD's will advocate here - But is this the life you had hoped for, when you decided to go to Canada.

After all "India is not that bad", there are lot of people who prosper & don't have to go to Canada. Its one life, & your kids childhood isn't going to come back again. This is the time to offer them the best of childhood memories.
Which many immigrants are unable to give to their kids...

Thank you I am working on some ideas to give myself a best chance in Canada, looking in to certification courses to find employment in finance or environmental sector, not sure it is a good idea or not but I will give it a best shot.

Toronto_Guru, I am not surprised to read your employment struggle in Canada, as a career adviser I hear such heart breaking stories from new professional immigrants on a daily basis, however my suggestion for you is to stay positive and don't loose hope, some time with right job search strategies you may be able to open employment opportunities for yourself. I will suggest look for banking certification from CSI since you have shown interest in finance. CSI certification are a quick fix to get in to banking, finance and insurance industry. You can view this course Canadian Securities Course (CSC) it does not cost much to be certified (Canadian Securities Course (CSC) Value Pack Combo* $1310.00) however open doors for a reasonable entry level job with earning from 40,000 a year. Few of my clients have done this and now they are working in top chartered banks.

Just food for thought, in addition I will encourage you to sign the petition I started to address the same issue that you are facing now as a new immigrant with the name of “Canadian Experience” a systemic unfair employment barrier to new comers,

Here is the link for you if you like to add your voice to this petition

gonna keep posting my old reply until this thread get burried. Don't wanna discourage the good new comers with such stupid crab !!!!

---------------------------------------------

Dudes..... why don't you people go backhome rather than crying here ????

I guess you don't want to do that because you don't get such EI & free money for sitting home and starting a petition. Or let me guess the future of you children is not good in backhome. Or may be you don't feel secure on the roads or in the homes in backhome. Or let me guess you don't want to make yourself look like a looserssssss infront of all the relatives and friends in backhome with whom you talk big.... big things on the phone.

Nobody called you here..... Nobody posted you an application telling you "The Land of Oppurtunity, Pls come"......Nobody at the airport had a red carpet for you when you landed..... It was you who saw filmy heroes dancing with white girls and roaming around in good cars & having big mansions. You dreamed about that..... they didn't say anything about those dreams in your application...did they ?????

Go back home !!!!!!

by the way, does anybody know the unemployment rate in India & other desi countries ??? just curious

I myself was unemployed back in India for 2 years. My brother was harrassed out of a company where he worked for 8 years as Marketing Manager & the poor guy was not able to find a job for 3 years & went into depression ( yes you read it right....DEPRESSION...in India ) !!!!

Now he is in Australia from last 5 years working as a Manager in a Cinema House (16 screens) & earning good & living happily. He started as a basic job at Cinema House & crawled to the Manager position.

Can-de ... I fully agree with you but we should understand the mindset of a person who migrated here (right or wrong), could not find a job worth mentioning and struggling here to survive. The reasons you mentioned are TRUE in many cases for NOT GOING BACK.

Going back is a BOLD decision .... few people like TK did it.

Petition stuff is crap and may only serve the own purposes of the people who actually initiates it. People should stop wasting time on such things, evaluate their position realistically and make some decisions to make good things happen to them. It may be going back or investing on a training/license or investing in a business they can do or increase the efforts to secure a job a that suits them.

True
& by the comments of TK, it looks like
"Nowadays those who have returned to India are relatively happy"

It is very unfortunate to read that our own Indian people are racist for new comer Indians, we bring our back home racist culture here in Canada too. It is a very toxic approach to talk to fellow new immigrant in Canada and I will be better off staying off from CD and engage myself with mainstream Canadians. I find mainstream Canadians are more supportive and give motivation and encourage me over our Indians so called community friend.

Anyway I am not here to waist my time on CD, racist Indians, I don't need advice from ignorant soul like you.
