Maxim,

1) Do not SPAM people with mails that they do not want. This is an abuse of the PM feature and I have received multiple complaints in this regard.

2) Stop the pro-veggie propaganda. Unlike everybody else, you obviously have no respect for other people's choices.

3) Don't write long posts and then delete them. You edit posts like 300 times such that everybody's replies to you lose context or you just delete posts. I can allow this once in a while but not everytime.

I have warned you enough times for propaganda that I will not warn you again.

To everybody,

Please respect everybody's chocies when posting anything else on this thread. I know most of you are already doing that.

The thread is not about propaganda. You are free to voice your opinion but do it in a way such that other people's choices are not disrespected. Otherwise I will be forced to lock up this thread.

Maxim Bhai., Thanx anyway for the links.
To be frank, I had seen all those stuff., that too in desi version through "heads and tails" program ., courtesy of which should go to Maneka Gandhi... probably, this is a better way of preaching vegetarianism than quoting stuff from the Vedas.
Tell you what., I had watched "heads and tails" eating the very same animals that were getting slaughtered on the show !!! that does not mean that I am some psycho or something... the joy of eating meat is unparalleled..the texture, the crispness, the juice., the coarse, the smell of a cooked meat can never be replaced by any vegetarian item... I had tried vegetables .., and followed it religiously for say .. some seven days max... there was always a sense of emptiness and it was never enough !!! As they say "jab tak khoon mein ravaani, jab tak josh mein jawaani" ., I am gonna fulfill my needs for animal muscles... then, once the blood cools down I will look for other options., but, quitting it all together is out of option....
Regarding the video., its probably in one of those mass meet processing centers., where they have to slaughter thousands of cattle per day., and its such a routine and monotonous job.., we men loose patience to be soft with each of them...,
Anyway., thanx for the concern... someday, I might quit !!! and it might not be coz of these videos or coz of vedas.., it will be just be my personal choice !!! ;)

Since I am a vegetarian, I am asked this question again and again "Don't you eat any meat? How do you get any protein? Do you eat fish? Do you eat tofu"?

I am a vegetarian as well and I am being asked the same Qs every now and then...and many more as to is it coz of religious purpose and so on.....I don't get irritated by these Qs....coz when I think from their point of view I can understand why they would ask these Qs....we vegetarians get lot of protein from beans / pulses / lentils / milk etc. So I explain the same to them. Abt why I don't eat, my ans is that when I was a kid, it was taught to me that our religion do not allow eating meat and I never questioned those views, but as I grew up, I read lot of books including the ones on hinduism...wch explains why one should avoid eating meat...and I completly agree with it....

Thanks reachash,

being i am also vegetarian, i am thankful to read you views. I am also agree with the views on hinduism which prefers for Ahinsa. I am encouraged to see your ideas

Thank you Maxim for sending me a PM and for providing all the links. I do really appreciate it.

I am a supporter of the animal rights movement and I am aware of the injustice and cruelties inflicted upon animals in slaughterhouses.

We should be thankful to the creator for creating us as human beings and not as those poor unfortunate creatures. All living creatures which enter into this world do not have a choice. It is some unknown factor which decides their destiny and fate. Human beings are an intelligent species and should learn to love and care for animals. WE DO NOT OWN THIS WORLD. Mother nature isn't partial to the human race. If we were Gods favorite children then hundreds of thousands would not have perished in the recent tsunami tragedy. We should learn to coexist with other species. The mighty dinosaurs once ruled this earth but became extinct one day. Only time will tell what fate awaits the human race.

Each of us on this planet is a mortal being. What happens to us after death? Can we believe in the concept of heaven and hell? The fundamental laws of motion states that a body in rest remains in a state of rest unless an external force is applied to it. How can a dead human being travel to heaven or hell when you need a hearse to transport the body to the final resting place. Also to go to heaven or hell would require us to travel at the speed of light. This is in contradiction to Einstein's theory of relativity. So are we human beings bound to this earth forever? Everything in earth is recycled so how do we know that a human being after death is not recycled back into a lower animal form. We are made up of organic molecules and so are the animals. The only distinction is our genetic makeup (which is again of chemical origin) which provides us with better intelligence. Remember even the richest person on earth has to die one day. After death what happens only the creator and mother nature can answer.

Is there any religion in this world which encourages humans to be barbaric to animals? I may be wrong but isn't it said that " those who live by the sword shall die by the sword".

Remember what the worlds greatest theoretical physicist Albert Einstein said when asked about the universe

" God doesn't play dice with the universe for He is a just God and because he is a just God I tremble for my fellow beings"

Thoughts, comments and criticisms are most welcome.

Thanks and regards,

Nikhil

I am a vegetarian by choice and I respect each individuals rights.

It seems you are one of those Indians who wait for Phoren approval and the accept it once it becomes a fad.

Anyway, there is a saying \"Aam Khaoo Gutli se Kya lehena\". Well look into the latest findings on effects of Vegetarinism and these are by Phoren people so I think beleiving them will be easier.

Lastly next time any body asks you about the source of a veggies protein tell him that our Protein source not only gives us all the requisite proteins but is also a lot easier on our digestive system and is also a lot beneficial for eg., due it menopause is a none issue in a veggie woman - that is no Nakhras.

I think this is a good enough to begin with. Once this is understood other deeper relevances can be looked into anyway that is for a latter stage.

All my people say the same thing about the Quran. Including that it proves realtivity and speed of light and other such things. On further questioning nothing really comes out. I am sure the bible and other scriptures might have such assertions.

peoples are vegetarians because of different reasons, including Animal rights, religious background ,family restrictions
Nature's law is that one living being exists by eating another. The scriptures give regulations for human life and set aside certain foods for human beings. That quota is divided into six categories, namely vegetables, fruits, milk products, grains, sugar and nuts. With these six ingredients we can maintain our health very well, far better than meat eaters maintain their health. Vegetarians are more healthy than meat eaters, and their endurance is greater, although they may not have brute strength. Just consider that the elephant is a powerful animal, yet he never eats even a scrap of meat.

The Bible says, "Thou shalt not kill," but everywhere people are slaughtering animals and eating them. All religious scriptures promote non-violence as the first principle of religious life. Whatever we see is created by God. No one has the right to kill anything or anyone, because no one can create anything. We cannot create an animal. We cannot create even a mosquito, so we should not kill even a mosquito. Spiritual life means non-violence. Animals should be protected. This is confirmed in the Bible:

Whatever you do unto the least of my brothers, you do it unto me. (Matthew 25:40)
You shall not eat the fat of any ox or sheep or goat. Although the fat of an animal that has died naturally or was killed by wild beasts may be used in any other way, you may under no circumstances eat it. For whoever eats the fat of an animal offered as a sacrifice to the Lord, he shall be cut off from his people. Moreover, wherever you dwell, you shall not eat any blood, whether of bird or animal. Whoever eats any blood shall be cut off from his people. (Leviticus 7:22-27)

And God said, "See, I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the earth and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit to be your food. And to all the animals of the land, birds of the air, and living things which crawl on the ground, I give them all green plants as food." Then God looked at everything He had made and found it to be good. (Genesis 1:29-31)

To kill an ox is like slaying a man; sacrificing a lamb, like breaking a dog's neck. (Isaiah 66:3-4)

.

1.Dif. between “Satwik” and “Tamsik” food, Achar and Vichar.
2.Satwik food will help develop Satwik Vichar therefore one would tend towards God.
3.It is really cruel and heinous to slaughter innocent animals/fish etc., whatever it is just for taste.
4.One can live more then 100 yrs being vegetarian. Plants/ vegetables /grains etc are necessary to eat for survival.
5.Scientifically human body is not fit for non-veg.
6.Non-veg could be a reason of thousands of illness. Science has proved it.
7.Animals products are more valuable and precious then their meat.
8.In my opinion, in early Vedic era, cow could be the only animal available which was so precious coz milk, cow dung, use in agriculture etc so that those peoples worshiped it being a part of life and its slaughter and eating beef was banned.

Statements of Reachash, Manasvi and Practickm are not simple opinions but based on great theories which were propounded by our Rishi/Munis.

In western and European world lot of people are converting to vegetarian. It is a good really a good and relevant issue. More opinions are welcome.

"LIVE AND LET LIVE" - The theory of Jainism is the foundation of Non-violence/Ahinsa.

Respected reasons being Vegetarian
