It is very logical reason, in every aspect of life personal choices are not to be respected. What is so difficult for you to understand in maxim message. Why should BL ban him for this.........

Maxim Bhai,

What are you trying to prove here. Since when did you become the moral police of "Supreme Government". Well., few people think there is no Supreme Governement.
I totally appreciate what Vedas say., but, it was a very very old book., remember., it was a book written by someone., might as well be a work of fiction or best seller of its times. What we homo sapiens did was use everything around as per our convenience. It was a matter of personal choice and convinience all the time. We imposed the Sati System, untouchability and what not.., and these systems were all imposed as result of convenient interpretation of our good old holy book. Well., I read somewhere that it says in one of the holy book that a true pure brahmin should not venture out in the sea or cross borders., well., does that mean that all brahmins abroad are impure !!! Now., that was a matter of personal choice., nobody will ever quote vedas to prove this., coz, when shankar raman did this to stop the kanchi seer from going abroad ., he was bumped off in a TEMPLE., which is supposed to be the pedestal of peace, tranquility and vedic culture. If we go by the word to word interpretation of the vedas we are all sinners in one way or other. Vedas were supposed to describe a "way of life" during those time and is very much outdated in modern times. One simple question will be out of the four varnas who will be allowed to write a computer program ?? Is it Brahmins coz programming is a spiritual thing ... or Kshathriyas coz, programming can save the world, or Vaish coz, programming generates money or shudras for providing support to everyone... !!!! Its again convenience.
One more example will be if a so called "shudra" quits being a shudra and practises spirituality ., will he be termed as a Brahmin ?? If most of us answered NO., then, it is again a bad interpretation ., coz., nobody is born in a varna., we belong to the varna coz of our actions as we grow up!!!
The Supreme Commander created us all along with millions of other animals on planet earth so that we can co exist and live in a equilibrium., by equilibrium I mean., no species are more dominating than the other., and if there is one., then, surely there will be a predator.
Now., to actually answer the main question by Meghal about when we started/stopped eating meat/vegetables. ., Human being were a part of the food cycle., there were animals below us., and some above us too. And during this fight of existence., we evolved very fast and adapted to the nature at such an amazing speed (we learnt to use our brain cells faster than other animals). All the other animals are right behind us in the evolution cycle. What we are now is just a part of that evolution where we are passing on some changes obtained during our lifetime to our offsprings. So., somewhere one of our great grand father thought that eating vegetables along with meat was more fun.., his son thought eating vegetables was more fun than eating meat., and his son thought eating vegetables was the only fun thing available ., and very recently my father thought ..enough of vegetables ., let me eat some meat., now., I eat lots and lots of meat., somewhere down the lane., my great grand child will think ....eating is so boring...let me drink the chemical protrien mixed with cholesterol in the form of liquid out of a test tube !!!
I think everybody working non stop in the Supreme Government will have a good laugh at their creation. ;-)
There nothing Vedas can do about it.., it was all the way a simple matter of personal choice and convenience.
So, Meghalji, next time somebody asks why we are veg/non veggies..,. mention your personal choices and avoid vedas and religion., nobody is doing anybody a favour by being a vegetarian or non vegetarian., we are all selfish and we do things only out of personal choice and convenience.

regards
kumaran

:D
To start with, Thanx for the eloborate explanation of things we already know. This discussion was never about importance of Vedas in our lives or community., we do know that its something of great importance, but, it does not mean that everyone should follow it strictly.
Let me get back to the main topic.,
Take you for example., you are having dinner with lot of foreigners and you eat only vegetarian food., then., someone pops the magical question., "why dont you eat non-veg" ..,. there are two answers to it.,
"I dont like to eat non-veg" or "my religion/holy scriptures does not preach the same" .....
The main topic of my discussion is why is it so difficult to mention the first one than the second answer. Why should religion be dragged into such a trivial issue., and why one person who is as religious but, eating nonveg be made into an atheist. How difficult is it to accept the fact that nobody is safegaurding any religious values by doing something that is purely selfish and of personal convenience. Its high time we realize that gone are the days when we blamed religion/holy scriptures for our ill deeds., we are dawning upon rather already dawned up on a more rational society which thinks beyond religion and holy books when it comes to small matters like dietary preferences.

regards
kumaran

This is your opinion, your choice you are free to do this

Finally, after more than 12 pages of discussion, you are saying what others have been telling you from the very first page :o

Kindly take your own advice this time - whatever you are saying is your and only your opinion.
Your choice is your choice.

No one here is asking you to defend or explain your choices in long and verbose discourses of the vedas and scriptures.

Everyone here is willing to respect your religion and your choices - all we are asking is you do the same.

You keep reviving this topic under some pretext or the other.

I fail to see why it is so unacceptable to you that other people make their own choices and decisions.

Hope you understand.

in same way when our creature created this device(Earth& peoples)he provided us manual,,this manual called that time 'VEDAS"
in old time peoples followed this manual thats why they got better stressless life than now,,

Maxim,
I've been reading some motivational books by eastern and western writers and they heavily rely on the Vedas. It is indeed facinating that some of the things mentioned in such ancient texts are eternal in their application.
One specific theory by a respected 'crossover' author really has me further intrigued. This author mentions that physicists defined the qualities of the 'Unified field'
http://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/0,,sid9_gci554508,00.html
and that these qualities are the ones ascribed to Brahman, the source of all creation in the vedas!!
Since I have only second hand knowledge of the vedas, can you please dig up information OR send me links on these qualities of Bhrahma as described in the Vedas? Just need this for personal reference. Feel free to send me an e-mail(especially since we are digressing from the main topic) if/when you find the information. Thanks a bunch!
