No.
Driving license is independent of the visa status.
For example, while in the US, you can keep changing from status from one type to another, but your driving license will remain the same.

If you are a Canadian citizen, and not a US resident/citizen, then you can use your Canadian license to drive in the US.
This means that you will be on a NIV visa there in the US.
Your Canadian insurance will probably cover you during this period, but I am sure they will have some restrictions and limitations.
So if you go to the US for 6 years on H-1B, I am not sure if your Canadian insurer will continue covering you with full coverage.

There is a never a problem of a DL between these countries . If you are moving to US , change cdn to US and if you are in Canada , just change US to cdn . I have no idea why do u think this is so complicated like the taxes which also was not a complicated issue . People have been doing this for so many years without issue so if you can correctly define what you want to do and what your situation is , There are solutions there . You just have to keep an open mind and accept things ..

Hope this helps

I agree with Smiley. There is no complication in getting US DL.There is no need to even change from Cdn to US or vice versa. I know in New Jersey they ask whether you have any foreign country's DL.They want to see that if it is valid then they just ask you to go for computer test and if you pass that immediately they issue you a New Jersey DL.So if you have a Cdn you can keep your Cdn as well as an American. Now if you move from one state in US to another state in US and want a DL there; you have to surrender New Jersey (in this case) DL.They issue a new driving license of that state (where you have moved).
To get DL there are some other requirements you should have a legal status in US, Proof of address where you are residing in that particular state etc...
But I am not agree with Smiley that it is illegal to have both Cdn & US DL sametime. In US you can not keep two licenses from two different states of US but you can keep two or more licenses from that many countries .

very true

You may have to give the exam or a driving test depending upon the state laws where you go to. Some do an exchange directly

I have taken a commercial Licence though not used it so far but i almost spend 3000 bucks and i had to just give it away for a dam car licence ,no way there must be a way out

The question seems to be how do you exchange an AZ license (commercial license, truck) issued in Ontario with similar commercial license in US without giving a driving test as this person has not driven a truck for quite sometime.

If the authorities agree to give car license in US with or without driving test in lieu of AZ license in Ontario, obviously he cannot exchange it back for AZ if he decides to come back to Ontario, Canada. So he loses all the money that he spent on training and road tests for securing AZ license in Ontario.

When I wanted to get a Penna. license I was told to surrender my Canadian Drv. License as the Lady told me : U CANN'T KEEP 2 Licenses. But I said I dont want to do that for sometime as I want to keep a connexion with Canada. Then she said why dont you get a state ID. Yes in some states U can keep State ID which is just like DL but without the Driving privileges !!
Moreover I spent ~ 2000 CAD getting a G2 in Ontario ( immigrants nightmare ) and they gave me a full fledged G license here in US in return. My wife spent ~ 500 USD and passed G staright in first attempt. Driving in US is like in India. In Canada it was more rules & regulations.
