Most of the desi's who come at a later age feel homesick a lot and always talk about "India this, India that......' and do not enjoy the good life of Canada. Don't blame them also . They just have got used to servants and other cheap amenities in India.

You know you are a desi when ........ You spew forth the virtues of India, but don't want to live there...............You've never had a tanning salon membership
Hi Benparsad
I think you are not principally disagreeing with my view to immigrate but you are disagreeing to my explanation and came down heavily.
If you are living in Canada pretty well you know the type of Jobs available across the Country.
The reason why I asked whether the application was filed by him self or through a consultant is; If he filed the application by himself then he may not get more details of about exact situation; if he filed through a consultant, at least, the consultant will tell him about the type of jobs available other than career job and the risk factor to the some extent. Also, he can meet some other immigration aspirant in India, through consultant; the network is possible before immigration.

Generally to succeed in Canada you don't need to be the most intelligent or hard working person. You need to be street smart, able to adapt and "fit" into this society. You need to be able to schmooze with people.
For that age is not a consideration. If you are outgoing, don't mind making cold calls, are persistent, and have good support from your family you will make it. It will take your time and some luck. But you have to be willing to slog it out, upgrade your education and work hard. Also it helps to have a good sense of humour and and it is better to come here withour any preconceived notions about "goras" (BTW I am not in favour of using that term so I put it in brackets)

I have only 2 cents to contribute, not a cent more, not a cent less ;-)

Hi !!
You say you applied in 2003. Which month ? Hv you recd your medical papers?
Please let me know as I applied in 2003 as well.
I am 40+ as well - but this age thing never crossed my mind - Alan Greenspan started his career in the US FED Deptt at the age of 60+ and remained there for 18 years!! E. Shridharan who built the New Delhi subway is currently 74 and going strong. Verghese Kurien - the father of the co-operative milk movement in India and the founder of Amul put in his papers last week at the age of 84 only because of opposition from the board. Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in prison after completing 40 and yet became president!!! KFC was started by a retired army Col. at the age of 60!!!!!
Life begins at 40 - you ain't seen nothing yet. Let life happen - it will be beautiful.
