I don't understand why would anyone especially from the Middle East would like to come here especially during the current economin downturn.

I know Dubai has been impacted but nothing like NA.
If GM goes down under ( which is almost certain ) we will have thousand of people jobless and you would be competing against them.

Thanks for all you feedback.

After a lot of thinking we have decided to do our landing this year. Just wanted to know if we have to declare/list all the goods we are carrying and which are to follow, when we do our landing itself or when we come to Canada for good.

Pls advice

Jigcy

Even I have decided to do landing this year,Iam landing in April.I can keep my job here in India.Even if I want to do further studies in Canada,I have to try for admissions from here itself because you need to give exams like GMAT etc,so in case I get admission from here itself (of course you got to see the economic situation and do an analysis of what are your prospects after doing a particular course,I will get lot of ideas once I do my landing and stay for 20 days this time),So accordingly I can plan my further journey in 1-2 yrs from now when I can expect the economy to hopefully recover and in case I get a job at that time(even if its not great job),I will have atleast resources to do part time studies and build my career from there.Lets see god must have decided something for me,because my plans have changed like so many times since I have got immigration,Even he has to give NOD on what I have decided,But whatever it is Iam just waiting to land there and rest of the things I can decide after coming back depending on the situation there

Pls if you could advice me regarding-

1]what stuff to bring with us eg- kitchen stuff, electronics(do they work on the canada voltage?) or other things which are useful and u dont get in Canada.

2]do we need to get our jewellery valued?

3]what are the daycare charges?( we have a 18month old son)

4]the best way to get our finances eg-draft, TC etc

thanks

Jigcy

I agree with the others. This is not the best time to give up a secure job and try for a job here. Unless you have a firm job offer in Canada, I too suggest you come here stamp your papers and go back.

Since u probably just received ur PR u get 1 year before u need to land. Use that time to wait and watch.. hopefully things improve by then but things are looking difficult for now..

If by the time ur Landing date expires things dont improve u land and then return back..
This gives u additional 3 years to return when the job market gets better..

I did the same thing in 2003 when the economy was really bad .. I came back to canada in 2006 and have no regrets..

Sometimes it is better to wait.. and this is one of those times..

Remember the landing time gap is 1 year from the date of your MEDICALS (the day you go for your medicals).

Residency requirements is out of 5 years at least 3 years should be spent here in Canada.
