Revolution is on the way... wait 30-40 more years when minority becomes majority and majority becomes minority...till then have more n more kids and live on childcare benefits. Better yet make your wife stay here as single mother (of course not as your mother ;) ) and you go earn dinars. Visit every year to make another kid...by the time you are done revolution will be here and you will reap the benefits. If you don't do that now then there will be different majority and you will be in minority forever suffering the same thing for ages...

I've been in Canada for a few years now. Have got and lost jobs - no discrimination. I know someone who works for govt., and about 20% of this person's colleagues are desis - of which at least half are immigrants. Have a decent family doctor in downtown Toronto, have had to visit hospitals - no problems there either - except for long wait -like everyone else (of all skin colours - no discrimination). One time had to go to emergency and was taken care of in 5 minutes (including a qualified senior doctor attending and doing exactly what was needed). No problems with OBGYN either - excellent doctors at Mt. Sinai - just be prepared to wait to get an appointment (not so good). Have had horrible dentists and finally a decent dentistry group. Have been paying high taxes (including OHIP) and additional insurance premium (for vision/dental/prescriptions) but then just looked up US medical insurance rates - for an equivalent service (OHIP+Bluecross) it cost around US$1000 a month (considering co-pay, deductibel, etc) for a family of 3 -here it is about C$400 a month ($750x2=1500 for OHIP and $250x12=3000 for Bluecross). Quality is just about the same as in the USA (and UK, Singapore, UAE and Australia - all of which we have experience of). Of course, if you do not speak good english, then you may have problems but we have not had any so far on that account. Roads, Libraries and Schools are better than India/Singapore and Public transport in Downtown Toronto is pretty decent - if not as good as London/NYC/Singapore.
Phone/Internet/Cable services here are very bad, job/business oppportunties are not so good and University education is difficult. Hate sucking up to the HM the Queen. All in all, win some, lose some. We are all mature and free to live where we feel it works for us - there is nothing "generally" wrong or right - only circumstantial. If/when it makes more sense for us to move elsewhere (India/USA/Singapore) may be we will. As of now, Canada it is.

Seems like medical service in GTA is overstretched to the point of compromising quality. I live in Windsor and have for about 7 or 8 years. I have used emergency services about 3 times and had very good service. We found a good family doctor very easily and he is an older gentleman who long time ago moved from UK.

Clearly, most of the posters are from GTA (or major cities for that matter) and their experiences unfortunately sound as if the entire country is rotting. Nevertheless, I don't disagree services need to be improved in the GTA area to serve the ever increasing new population.

I agree, areas outside of the GTA are way better in quality of life. In the GTA, people don't know the first thing about this term.

It's not just the healthcare that's overstretched, it's everything! Think of when you want to buy somenthing on sale but 7 out of 10 times the store is already sold out cuz 50,000 people beat you to it already. There is ofcourse also the case of our fellow desis buying "in bulk" everytime something goes on sale. Just today, I saw this Indian family loading up their cart with over 20 boxes of icecream that was on sale for 99 cents in No Frills

Its high time rationing should be implemented, especially on sale items :)
imagine going to walmart when instant coffee goes on sale and all pallets already sold out, am left to wonder as buyers will not finish the coffee before coffee will be back on sale in few months .
Wonder if there s a underground economy as even the chinese store owners wont buy from them.

It's hight time a US like visa based immigration system is implemented, or new Immigrants get to choose a location in Canada, anything except the GTA.

The Canadian Immigration plan, while noble in thought, is practically misguided (just like most things here). It was meant to populate Canada but in reality it is just over-populating the GTA
