An excess of anything is bad esp religion .
By Puttoo jee s definition , the next thing we can have is madrassas and the like - may be Friday as a weekly off 
...
Like I said before , such a precedent would set a bad example - there s a high risk of religious polarizing in schools in stead of free inter mingling of all faiths / religions . It might even lead to communities and area being religiously major . Oh man there s this school which allows Islamic prayers ... Lets shift in / out of the area ......
I have not seen any people performing religious duties at work .. imagine what would happen if there was an hour given to that ??

How is praying by some students going to polarize them? You have catholic schools in Canada, you dont see polarization between them and public school students. In fact i would say that the schools should have programs for all students to know each others faith. There should be visits to different religious places for students as part of their studies, but then that is me.
Now your point about shifting of population to there areas is concerned ..... this accomodation to pray is avaialble in all schools in toronto school board jurisdication so where does the question of shifting occur.
As for accomodation in workplace ..... again as per Canadian law resonable accomodation should be provided. You view this religious accomodation everyday when you see a turbaned and bearded sikh police officer. The sky hasn't fallen because an accomodation has been made for their religious obligation and neither will the heavens fall if students are praying for 10 minutes once a day in a week.

... or perhaps TDSB is smart enough to know that inspite of all the hue and cry no one else wants to pray
BTW .. There was a yearly statistics out and Islam is the fastest growing religion in N. America ( including Canada) ( 10 year in a row)

Yes thats why a muslim is currently president of USA
The fastest growing group according to statistics in N.America are non-religious people - a fact which most organized religions don't agree

You are comparing apples to oranges !!
Yes a turban and a beard or other attire is fine and acceptable in workplaces as well as schools as well as other areas - lets keep it at that ... have you seen people praying at workplaces here in Canada and special accommodation being made .
Polarizing is bound to happen as religion is known universally to be a unifying and dividing force at the same time ..... Haven't you seen people of the same / certain religion to be more unified with their own then with others ??
Allowing religion based praying would set a bad precedent .....Budhists will pray in their own , Muslims in their own , Hindus in their own ---- this would lead to groups being formed on religion basis and lead to communal dis harmony .
Sooner or later another Toronto 18 might come up ....
