Makes friends in Toronto
Excellent idea, count me in.
I am happy to help any one in need of help especially the new immigrants, mainly by providing them with required information to settle down initially. One thing we all should follow is make the meeting very live, interactive and positive.

But no Tim Hortons. Let it be in someone's house.
A desi meeting must be held in desi ishtyle.

Is this a 'guys only' meeting? Where are all the gals?
And if we were to help desis by donating them stuff, that cannot be done in Tim Hortons. Tim Hortons is good place to have a coffee and a chat only. A desi meeting would rather be good in someone's house if we want music also. Band baaja is a must for a desi party. And let everyone prepare a small dish(their own personal recipe) and bring it to share with others. At the same time, we can help new desis with the stuff we wanna give them.
How is that?

Hi CDs,
Thus far we have the following CDs who have posted on this thread and hence, I presume, are interested in a get-together. Some of the members are yet to land but I have included their names in the list.
I am sure the list will double by the time we are ready for the proposed meeting. That means a gathering of approximately 100 desis (including family members). Tim Hortons, I guess, is ruled out. We have to now seriously think and resolve the issue of a suitable venue.
How about hiring a spacious room in a community centre?
