Hi DP
For getting a G2 or G lic, your Indian License with 14 years will be enough. You have to show this to the MTO. Now I think they have changed the rule a bit as you have to get your license endorsed by Indoian Consulate for proving its authenticity. Please don't think that if you show your Indian license, they will give you a G2 or G license straight....NO....they won't exchange it but the only privilege you get is that YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO WAIT FOR 8 MONTHS OR 1 YEAR TO GET YOUR G2 / G. YOU GET THE EXEMPTION ON THE WAITING PERIOD. In turn, you save lot of time!!!!
The other day(about 3 months ago) I was talking to a client of mine and he told me that he had an international license from India and when he came to Canada, he did not have to go through G2 or G. He just showed his international license to the ministry office in Markham and they issued him a G license. I do not know how true is it but the way he was telling me seemed true. May be you need to check with the ministry on their webstite:

As far qualification goes, there is no requirement as such. As long as you can understand / speak / write LITTLE BIT ENGLISH and your eye sight is good, you are eligible for Truck License.
In case you do need more info, do not hesitate to get in touch with me.

Good Luck!!

Hi Sanjeevm,

Thanks once again for your answers.

See if they (the Licencing authority in Canada) is exchanging International licence gor G licence than it is much better option to carry along an International licence coz it is easy to get IL here in India atleast and that too in just 1600 INR.

I'll check it if this will be the case.

If anyone would like to confirm this thing that too would be helpful.

Regards,

DP
