Dear all

Great topic , good disussion, and good information. But I think the problem lies mostly with the system because the big cities are the gateway but the govt/ companies/ both in conjugation can advt in this areas that the following skill sets are needed for people who are willing to relocate and I am sure that all new immigrants would jump to the oppertunity but you cant expect an individual who has a family to support and kids to feed back home will take a leap to a place copletely unknown to him and take a chnace to make it big in a small city about which he does not have any/ fewer information.

But for all singles I think they should exit to any part of a country if they have any referenaces in any small city where the chances of survival and growth are better.I am planning to come down to Canada - GTA this summer and honestly guys I have planned to shift to a small city where the chances of a better paying job is good and even getting survival jobs are even more.

I have deceided to come to GTA as this is the place I received all my replies for a PG accomodation and if someone offers me a PG at any part of Canada come how cold it may be ( except French speaking parts as my French is very bad) I will take it.

Reply to me if any one has any PG offer outside the Big three.

Thanks and regards

It is easier said than done !
Have you lived in India all/most of your life?
If so, you really don't have any idea how cold and harsh the Canadian winters can be in certain parts.
GTA is actually not that bad because of the promixity to the lake and part of the "banana belt".
But it is easy to say that you will settle somewhere however cold it may be is asking for trouble.
I suggest do not make any commitments or concrete plans before you have checked out the city and preferably spend a winter there.

Who told you that?
What makes you think that smaller cities have higher paid jobs and better part-time jobs?
If that were so, then it wouldn't be a small city, would it?
Because a small city's economy is also smaller, the jobs are usually lesser, opportunities are lesser, everything follows a set pattern and there isn't much scope for enterprise.
Salaries are lower, too.

I know it feeds our romantic imagination from books and movies to live in small towns, friendly neighbourhoods, no traffic, no commute, cool fixed-hour jobs, good salary....dream on :)

Practick is right there.

DOnt jump to a smaller town because of some notions you held about them.
A small town in India is not the same as a small town in Canada.

Why? because India is your own country and you can live / adjust (in many cases we have come from smaller towns).

Apart from the brutal winters (which one can tolerate if there is a decent Job available) there are other social factors.

Having said that, Singl folks should really have a go at it. If they dont, no one will. at some point in Canada's future recent immigrants will have to start moving in sufficient numbers out of the big cities and towards small towns/cities/countryside, much like earlier european settlers did in the past.

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
