Few reasons when we planned migration (after I read a no. of posts here I just had to put (!) marks everywhere)

Security ('coz we now live in the middle east!)
Better quality of life!
Good education facilities for children!!
Possibility of making a country your home after living for more than 5 years (which is not possible where we live now!)

Now we are so confused after reading all these posts in your forum....!!

BTW, what are the prospects for a couple in early 30's to land and continue higher (masters) studies rather than hunt for any...kind of job?

Thought I should write to you due to your confusion.

Security ('coz we now live in the middle east!)- Yes you'll find it here

Better quality of life!- What exactly do you mean? For some people this means having 2/3 cars and servants. Its different for me and I love the idea of being able to get our family bicycles in/on our car and drive off to any area for trail biking with the family. Access to an active lifestyle, kids learn sports/swimming/ballet/karate etc without parents having to be rich etc.

Good education facilities for children!!
Again this is relative. For me a well-rounded education is important with the formative years of the child being devoted to social-skills, selfconfidence, problem solving via play/sports, music dance etc. However, we have people on this forum who think that teaching Math in kindergarten is more important. You have to decide which education you are more comfortable with...you will find the former type of education to be more prevalent here.

Possibility of making a country your home after living for more than 5 years (which is not possible where we live now!)- Yep..you score

If you are in your early 30's and know that you have the funds for higher studies...I think you should give this place a try. Also I am guessing(from your logins) that you are catholics. From my experience most catholics( goa/mangalore/bombay) India/dubai do not have that much trouble adapting to the lifestyle here. Most of my relatives(from wifes side) like it here. Also you will find a lot of Dubai/gulf crowd of catholics in TO who regularly organise dances and stuff.

Bumbaya,
Not that you are not welcome to these places. e.g: most xmas/newyear dances in Mumbai have a lot of non-catholics taking part. My post was to Ivansuz letting them know that they will still have access to the culture/lifestyle they are used to, even in Toronto.
As long as you want to have a good time and are openminded about other cultures...you will be more than welcome at these affairs

if you think wearing western clothes, social-drinking and dancing with members of the opposite sex is against your values...do not go to these gigs. Note that I am in Montreal so I have not been to these functions in Canada yet. Some ppl I know in TO are very involved in these parties. Maybe you can find a catholic from dubai who can introduce you to their various activities.

Thanks Jake for all the info. it was grreat...

We are indeed Manglaorean, Catholics, would love to have community around but honestly not the dancing/partying kind. Was just wondering the percentage of community in Vancouver....we're torn between the decision to move to Toronto or Vancouver.

Also, how much expenses do you think it would incur for person p.a. for doing a masters in an average uni.
