I see horror stories and then appraisals typed on the same page. I understand life can be tough as an immigrant, but isn’t that always the way were ever you may go. I recall the famous saying “grass is never greener on the other side – but sure as hell looks like it.”
I do see some setbacks:-
e.g. qualifications obtained abroad may not be recognised. This stems from a lack of knowledge and a fear that qualifications certificates may not be of a genuine nature.
Language problems especially accents plays a part. It happens in the UK, where interviewers feel that it is a barrier for potential candidates to relate with the current workforce and vice versa (employers this, do you have the same interests, as your accent doesn’t seem to show it etc).
The rut of getting any kind of job to keep yourself supported, will be seen by a future employer as “Canadian Experience” and may not bode well for future employment.
To counteract these setbacks I will visit Canada in September for a fact finding holiday, CV (Resume) in hand and a pair of sunglasses on my head. It will provide me with my own picture as to what it takes to succeed in this “foreign land”. If all goes well I will make the bold move.
If anyone has any networking opportunities or possible job opportunities for a project manager with a top notch British accent, let me know via e-mail
Ps congratulations to the person who made the statement that if there is a lack of doctors in Canada why did the doctor make for pastures new (USA).
Any lovely ladies who would like to go out on a date with a consumate professional when I come for a visit, let me know. I’m torn between the Idea of visiting ON or Winnipeg? Let me know as the imigrant stories from ON sound scary, and not all can be wrong.
Kind regards to all from London

The answer is very simple.
It is true that there is a shortage of doctors in Canada. But you should know that Health Services in this country is a regulated sector, and that means there is a limit on how much money you can make. Doctors are paid from the government's coffers which implies a restricted scale of earning.
In the US health is treated as a business. There is no theoretical or practical limit on how much moolah a doctor can make, and in fact they do too! Shortage or no, you cannot blame a person for moving to earn more.

I think we all are discussing over an article which is still in Mr. Raza's dreams.
See his signatures. He is signing as of June 2005 which is yet 19 days away.
Here is a snip from his article.

1. No Jobs.
Yes, coast to coast, there are no jobs. Immigrants are highly qualified (MD's, PhD's, Lawyers, Engineers etc.) but they are driving taxi cabs, delivering pizza's or working in factories. Even people with bachelors degrees from Canadian Universities cannot find jobs after graduation. This is the tragedy associated with immigration to Canada. I feel sorry for those immigrants who are stuck in Canada for the rest of their lives. It is indeed a very sad and hopeless future.
