from the Ontario Human Rights website, excerpt from
"Are There Racial Barriers to Access to Professions
and Trades for the Foreign-trained in Ontario?" by
John Samuel Ph.D.:
"As seen, there has been no shortage of studies
containing recommendations in Ontario. The issue has
been studied to death. The shortage has been in
action. It appears that there is a lack of will on the
part of the powers that be to act. The issue of
facilitating the labour market integration of
professional immigrants goes beyond recognition of
their qualifications or setting up a system for the
same. One wonders whether the situation would have
been the same if all these immigrants had come from
Europe."

Arey Puru, kya yeh maamla thanda hogaya? 10 days since last posting? Kya kuch Xmas gift ka intezaam horela?
At present the politicians are busy about either saving their own seats or gaining new seats. So what to expect more now? Since our agenda is to reach them, there is no option but to wait till this political drama is over and things become normal again. I will update if there is new information.
Regards to all

I couldn't take part as I was at work. Tried posting earlier but somehow the webpage did not allow it.
Puru raised the right question. What other question did you raise, Puru?

Well , the candidates (Martin, Harper, Leyton, Duceppe) are talking about the issues of new immigrants right now.
You can watch a repeat later on on CBC.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
Puru Sharth from Canada writes:
My first immigration views was not posted. I am not sure whether this will be posted.
However I would like to comment on a posting ( insulting to immigrants) here (No.34) by prariedog pdawg who wrote \" these ppl are cowards for deserting their homelands and betraying their ppl, rather than staying put and making things better.and these are the kinds of problem ppl liberals import for cheap labour.\"
My views : These people are not cowards but really brave, enterprising, educated professionals who have been deceived and falsely lured by your government's and private sector's attractively designed websites, your politicians's cheap promises and your immigration consultants' assurances about Canada being a dreamland. These are the agents who have been hard selling Canada as a commodity in other countries. Are you aware of that?
prariedog pdawg wrote : \"canadians havent welcomed aliens, liberals have. thats why its called 'tolerance', because its an irritation that we put up with, but not something we ever truly wanted.\"
My views : Fair enough! So why don't Canadians like you put pressure on your liberal politicians to send them back after duly compensating them for the millions of lives and careers destroyed. I am sure every professional immigrant will happily leave this country because it is an irritation too that they have been putting up with for years and not something which they ever wanted. So ask your government to start a program like this. It will be a roaring success!

An article appeared in the Calgary Sun newspaper written by Paul Jackson (who is a white guy) regarding minority opinion. Ofcourse it focusses on the local MP Deepak Ubhrai & the Conservative Party. But some statements are very important from the point of view of immigrants.
Reproducing the link here :-

part of the article I reproduce here :-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Obhrai believes the sham that only Liberals care about new immigrants and visible minorities is about to be exposed.
"They may have opened some doors to immigrants from poorer nations, but when the immigrants arrive here, every promise they made to them is broken."
Many immigrants from Asia, the Middle East or Africa come to Canada with accredited skills in medicine, engineering, architecture or some other discipline.
"Then when they get here they find their qualifications aren't accepted and they find they are working as cab drivers, janitors or labourers."
Few can deny that.
A week ago, a very nice cab driver told me he had a petroleum engineering degree, had worked for British Petroleum (BP) in the Middle East, but couldn't find a job in his field here.
Every time he tried some government or professional association, an obstacle was thrown in his face.
You're good enough for British Petroleum -- one of the giants of the oil industry -- but not good enough for Canada?
It doesn't make sense.
We all know Canada has a huge shortage of doctors -- partly because as finance minister, Martin cut medical school funding drastically -- but doctors come here from Commonwealth countries and aren't allowed to practice.
Again, it doesn't make sense.
Obhrai notes immigrants are adventurous, risktakers and entrepreneurial by nature.
They often showed great courage by coming to Canada where they work hard, save hard, and start up small businesses.

"You're good enough for British Petroleum -- one of the giants of the oil industry -- but not good enough for Canada?"
Doesn't this statement show the state of things we go through?
Thanks & rgds.
Rajan.
