Hi DT,
People even do not use their original names ( such as you) in a public forum for reasons known only to them. Do you know where everyone in this forum lives and what do they do when they are not posting in CD?
Yours sincerely

Microsoft - Which end of the stick do you want today?
Puru,
First you (and I and others ) whined, complained and all that. We even tried to bring down other people who were trying to better themselves in Canada, when we questioned them.
Then it was decided that we should do something about it , however small. We (mainly you) got down to it and came up with memo. BL agreed to host it on the forum and even provided some input it along with others. So now they are trying to do what we were supposedly doing before, i.e. paying homage to the greatest Indian god of all....the god of "bring others down".
Its a desi thang and as such escapes no desi. Without it we wouldnt be desi.
See Puru, this thread did not start of well. Your accusations hurt some people and rightly so. I havent read the in between pages of this thread (and i dont intend to) so I missed out on whatever action took place.
So if they pass some personal remarks then i would only blame them if I was not the first to do so. But thats ok , a couple of people are doing it. Just ignore. Thats all I can say at this point.
If you feel this thread has served its purpose and frankly I think it has then ask BL to Lock it and keep the other one active.
Post only newer material on that thread. Post with proper links. Do not post cut n paste letters from newspapaers and other places without links. Try to present the facts and not opinions (not easy but try). All of us on this forum know each others' position by now.
Do NOT keep repeating old stuff. As you can see you become a laughing stock. The stuff is going around the internet now and need NOT be repeated here.
They want to know you personal details, tell them and ask each of them theirs. Although I have learnt giving out personal details on the interweb is not advisable. Thats what PMs are for.
If you are unemployed and on Ei , then say so. I am thinking unemployement in Canada is not due to the lack of trying to get a job.
They want to know the objective of this memo.
Well I can say that the aim is to take the first step and then the next and the next.....thats itself may or may not lead to the end we want.
I am not sure at this point and nobody is.
Thats as simply as i can put it and is also the truth of the matter.
I think all of us are aware that somewhere somebody may already be doing it, so in that way its not unique but it is a start and maybe a part of a bigger effort.
Let see that positive attitude that is preached here often.

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
I'd say your post is cool !!! Ek teer se do nishaney. Taking refuge behind "I am not the one but its they", I must say u have done a great job.
I mean whatever u have mentioned in your post has been asked by others earlier. If Puru felt offended answering those posts won't he feel the same with yours ? And if he doesn't then I guess u have been successful in hitting the right chord. I am sure Puru is educated enough to understand what he has written earlier and does not need to be told what to do in future.
If u want to lock this thread go ahead guys but only if its not taking u anywhere and not because u don't have answers to give to others.
That's all
Puru,
Sometime ago u r tolding that you communicate with CTV and will keep us updated. Over weekend, apun seeing CTV wallah of entertainment section at comic show and asking him what happening. He tolding apun that you and one ladies at CTV having plenty exchanges via phone and email. He also tolding that atmosphere at CTV so charged and excited. The memo being circulated in CTV office and plenty peoples reading and that boss of station giving go ahead to bring you on TV to show all Canada the memo. Plenty animated commotion at CTV that they were actually going to do something original by get one South Asian to come on TV with memo and open challenge to Grits. As matter of fact he tolding me that camera crew was told to standby ready for one Saturday with special telephoto lens so they can zoom in on memo while it is being discussed.
This CTV man while telling me the story bhi ekdum very excited, then he saying you threw spanner in works by being ekdum ‘unrelenting and irresilient’ on one point. He tolding you wanting CTV to champion this cause, but they tolding that they will not endorse it but will helping you to use CTV as platform to champion the cause and to spreading around more awareness . So deal was nipped after this difference, which sounding ekdum unbelievable to me. I am asking many times after that if this difference was why u did not want to go on air and he tolding yes.
Chal apun giving his side of story. I am not thinking he is giving full bundle but maybe he exaggerating little bit because he very emotional man.
Apun not knowing if contact I sent u in pm is same person or that person putting you onto other person at CTV, lakin if u r not minding please letting us know what actually transpiring. Apun sure all readers of yeh dhaagaa will be keenly interested. Also if emails exchanged why not post them on dhaagaa for all to see?
Apla dimag ab tak kaam nahin kar raha hai. From what CTV man tolding all was a go until last moment. You actually refusing to go on air? I am not knowing to give you shabashi for sticking to ur guns or thinking you lost great opportunity.
Lakin apun, aur apun thinking other peoples reading this thread, wait kar rahe hain aap ka version ke liye.

I am reading your post in Speak out section of Star, Rajan bhaya, lakin not seeing Puru's.
Can u giving link to your posting please, Puru?
Also what is happening to contact of CTV I am sending you in pm? Any contact yaan no?
CTV is making a story about immigrants problems to be aired in the W-Five program. I was contacted by them and I have given the necessary inputs. The communication is still on. I will post the update on it.
As regards The Star, I do not know why they have not published anything regarding our memorandum. I sent them the link but they seem to be quiet at the moment.
You see I do not want our movement to become a one day story or just an article for them. They have many such immigrant stories and comments about this problem for filling up their pages. It is a routine job for them but for us it is a matter of our and our childrens' lives and careers. So let us be seriously focussed to devise ways to achieve the desired result.
BottomLine :
We need good jobs and decent living conditions for our families, not an illusory publicity.

Ottawa plans to unveil sweeping changes to immigration, starting today with an increase in the annual intake of new Canadians, and a promise to increase much-needed temporary workers and tackle the enormous backlog of 700,000 prospective immigrants.
Immigration Minister Joe Volpe, who will table his annual report to Parliament today, says Canada hopes to be taking in as many as 300,000 immigrants a year within five years, and will start by raising its target for next year to between 225,000 and 255,000. Canada is on track to accept 245,000 this year, the very high end of last year's target.
"We have to start thinking about the Immigration Department as a recruiting vehicle for Canada's demographic and labour market needs ..... we are the lungs of the country," said Mr. Volpe in an interview with The Globe and Mail. "We are producing more jobs than the labour market has workers for. ..... We're desperate for immigration."
He also pledged to tackle the backlog problem and introduce a system to expedite the processing of the more than 700,000 prospective immigrants who face waits of as long as 48 months to have their applications processed in Canadian missions around the world.

Under the current process, immigrants are selected on the basis of education, French-.and English-language skills, and adaptability, a recruitment system that attracts mainly highly educated people who complain their professional credentials are not accepted in Canada. Many foreign doctors and engineers say they end up working as taxi drivers and waiters — a trend confirmed by Statistics Canada, which has found that recent immigrants earn less than their Canadian-born counterparts despite higher levels of education.
Mr. Volpe does not want to scrap this selection system, but he wants to bring in more workers on temporary visas (there are about 95,000 a year) to fill positions in the trades, such as pipe fitters and truck drivers.
He plans to consult with his provincial counterparts, unions, business and immigrant-serving groups to better understand exactly what kinds of workers are needed. He envisions an expanded local and provincial role in immigrant selection.
"Every provincial minister wants more immigrants. Today in Saskatoon, they need 5,000 more people to fill new jobs. But in order for us under the current system to bring in 5,000 people, we have to bring in 15,000 (their family members) and it will take three years," Mr. Volpe said. "So we have to think about a more flexible system, a way to get in professional people and skilled people."
Mr. Volpe is also planning to introduce a new "in-Canada" application that will allow temporary workers and students to apply for landed-immigrant status once they have worked here for a certain number of months, in much the same way that live-in caregivers can apply for permanent residency after two years working as nannies.
Another priority for the Immigration Department is to process applications more quickly.
"Under the current system, we make people wait months before we even open their application. We would like to open their applications more quickly, and get them started on the process," an immigration official said. Applicants who have been accepted on a provisional basis could start language training and credential recognition overseas, while awaiting their landed papers. The department also plans to hire more staff in either missions overseas or in a centralized processing centre in Canada.
Mr. Volpe is also in favour of introducing a limited amnesty plan and granting legal status to the thousands of workers who toil in the black-market economy, particularly in Ontario's construction sector. This initiative, however, is complicated because 11 other federal agencies must sign on, including the RCMP, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, the Finance and Justice departments and Human Resources Skills Development Canada.
"You have to sell them a model that everybody can live with because there are consequences for all of them," said Mr. Volpe, adding that he "totally supports" a plan to regularize the status of undocumented workers, if they pass security and background checks. An estimated 200,000 undocumented workers live in Canada.
This year's annual report will show that Canada accepted 236,000 immigrants in 2004. Of those, 57 per cent are economic immigrants, and 43 per cent are in the family class, including refugees and others granted permanent residency on humanitarian grounds. Canada is on track to accept 245,000 immigrants in 2005 -- at the high end of its target and a signal of what's to come
