Even though India has progressed economically, people need to change a lot. In Canada, people walking their dogs are seen carrying small bags to collect the pet’s waste. In India, people who are supposedly highly educated and in good positions assume that the whole town is their dog’s to litter about. Generally, Indians are religious but think God Almighty need to descend on Earth to clear all the adharma. Till then they can happily carry on contributing their bit to the chaos and confusion. We seem to be enjoying too much freedom. All offenders and convicts from small traffic rule violations to people who kill MPs or even ex-PM, enjoy only public sympathy, but not served the punishment they deserve

If anyone is following Gujjar agitation in Rajastan can undrstand. Just because they wanted to be in the ST category does not mean that they have to block roads and remove rail tracks. Makes no sense. It created hardship to tens of thousands of other people. This attitude needs to change. A vegetable vendor can have a cell phone, but his/her attitude has changed due to cell phone? I dont think so. There need to be some kind of system and people need to follow. In India rules are made to be broken. Majority of them just on the paper. And people elect netas like Mayawati, Mulayam Sing Yadav, etc.

There is a saying that the development of a society/nation/community can be judged on the way that the most vulnerable citizens are treated.
As a member of Canadian desi, and as a person of Indian background I find the comments written by Iknownothing deeply offensive judgemental and unnecessary in a forum such as this one.
This forum has helped me and so many other people with resources, support, general information and to develop some really good friendships.
What is wrong with not wanting to sacrifice your life to live according to how other's dictate your life should be? What is wrong with pursuing your own goals. Why should people be made to feel guilty for choosing to Immigrate? Furthermore, what is wrong with people accepting and becoming comfortable in their new homes?
ramar2005: Just being religious doesnt mean anything but that one is a follower. It is a person who find themselves as one with the universe/nature/earth or whatever that will also respect it. Not many of us can achieve this ..i know I cant.

That there is something fundamentally wrong with our reservation system as is being followed now has a proof in the on going Gujjar agitation. Gujjars now want themselves to be classified as Scheduled Tribe, as another politically infulential and prosperous community has come in as Scheduled Caste and compete with Gujjars for the benefits. 60 plus years of following the reservation system, has only created more divisions and each one wants to become "more backward" to claim benefits of the reservation policy.

Better an NRI than being a RNA(Resident Non-Indian).
How can a country move forward and become a "superpower" when some of its people want to "remain backward" and resort to ivolance to achieve it? I dont get it.
On a side note, the inflation rate is 8.24%. How did they come with this number? What other data they used to come up with this magic number? Out of thin air? This is in a country where govt staff still write by hand in big ledger books.
